Für Orgel Und Physharmonika Allein. Par NEUKOMM SIGISMUND. Sigismund Ritter von Neukomm is one of those artists who achieved national fame during their lifetime, but fell into obscurity with succeeding generations. In the case of Neukomm, this is particularly surprising, as he can be described as one of the most popular musical personalities of the first half of the 19th century. Extended concert tours, on which he appeared as conductor, composer, organist and pianist, took him to many European countries and to South America. The functional purpose of Neukomm's 'Messe ohne Worte' can be seen in the musical 'accompaniment' of the calm mass, where the organ takes the place of the sung parts. The interpretation and musical setting of theliturgical text is in the Classical tradition, which is discernible in the basic character of the individual sections and in their formal development./ Répertoire / Orgue ou Physharmonika

Par ARCHER MALCOLM. With Sleigh Bells across the Snow, renowned recitalist and composer of popular church music Malcolm Archer reveals another facet of his talented musicianship ? namely, his love of light music and his mastery of the theatre organ. With this addition to Stainer and Bell?s stylish Light Organ Series, Sleigh Bells across the Snow was conceived in the spirit of Leroy Anderson, and joyfully follows the tradition of his and other notable sleigh rides. Bells and chimes feature prominently, ad libitum. But as the composer himself remarks, in true theatre-organ spirit, players should also feel free to add their own embellishments, glissandi, or whatever else takes their fancy!/ Répertoire / Orgue

This work Jubilant March for Organ is one of many original works that Stainer composed for Novello. It suggests that the high esteem in which Stainer was held by his contemporaries for the excellence of his Organ playing was not misplaced and is quite a rare Stainer work by virtue of its non-religious nature.John Stainer’s life coincided almost exactly with the reign of Queen Victoria. From his humble beginnings as the son of a cabinet maker he rose through his own brilliant musical gifts application and vision to become one of the most celebrated musical persons of his time. He is still remembered for having reOrganized the St Paul’s choir and for raising musicalstandards among church musicians in general and for his pioneering musicological research into early music. His hymns and arrangements of carols retain some popularlity today as does his Passiontide oratorio The Crucifixion.

Although quite some time has passed since the multifaceted organ music from Spain's Golden Age could be called an 'insider's tip?, it had yet to attain popularity with any wide audience outside the countries of the Iberian Peninsula. The three-volume Urtext edition of selected works by Joan Cabanilles, the cathedral organist from Valencia, now has every chance of becoming a milestone in its own right. The Iberian organ tradition of the 17th century appears to have reached its climax in his tientos, diferencias and versos. In the first two volumes, the editors Gerhard Doderer and Miguel Bernal Ripoll present a total of 22 of his most appealing and most significant tientos.- Urtext edition based on the latest research findings- Preface by the editors (in German, English and Spanish) / Orgue

Other renowned organ composers of the time also contributed works to this project, such as Guilmant, Rheinberger and Widor. The 'March King' John Philip Sousa (1854-1932) wrote over 100 marches for his world-famous band. So great was their popularity that they appeared in many solo and ensemble arrangements even including Guitar Zither Mandolin and Banjo. Given their original conception for Wind Instruments and Sousa's own predilection for and skill in transcriptions arrangements for Organ seem highly appropriate. These pieces have been expertlyarranged by Martin Setchell.
