Owing to his precocious musical gifts, he was able, at the age of nine, to enter the celebrated Niedermeyer School, founded in Paris to train organists and choirmasters. For about ten years he received instruction of great quality, centred mainly on the study of sacred music and the great classic masterpieces, into which he was initiated notably by Camille Saint-Saë ns, his Piano teacher. As soon as he left the school, Faure began a brilliant career as an organist. In 1896 he succeededTheodore Dubois as an organist at the Church of the Madeleine in Paris, and was appointed professor of composition at the Conservatory, where his pupils included Ravel, Koechlin, Enesco and Schmitt. Meanwhile, he had met Liszt in Weimar and had been initiated into Wagner's art, which, however, never really influenced him. Appointed director of the Conservatory in 1905 after Theodore Dubois' resignation, a member of the French Institute and music critic, Faure spent his last years in solitude, suffering from an irreversible deafness that obliged him to resign from the Conservatory in 1920. He died in Paris on 4 th November 1924. The music of this sometimes misunderstood composer who wrote in nearly all genres (except Organ music) is of great refinement. Written by Gabriel Pierné Op. 3 No.12 Cache-Cache is the twelfth of a set of fifteen pieces for Piano. It was composed in 1883 and is ideal for intermediate players. This lovely piece holds the name of the children's game ?Hide & Seek?. Within the piece and after the introduction right and left hands alternate the use of semiquavers going up and down continuously the other hand playing mainly chords In the series this work is preceeded by two other pieces named after children's games and comes before a waltz in A. Gabriel Pierné was a French composer and conductor who mainly wrote some chamber music and somelyrical symphonies.

This collection of Vocalises contains 45 vocal exercises devised by innovative teacher Gabriel Fauré. When Gabriel Fauré was appointed Director of the Paris Conservatoire in 1905 one of his most pressing concerns – and first achievements – was a complete reform of the teaching of singing. He was determined to introduce mandatory study of art song along with 'exercises developing vocal suppleness articulation and voice placement and production which are the basis of singing teaching'. To this end between 1906 and 1916 he composed a substantial body of accompanied vocalises for use in theConservatoire’s sight-singing examinations. For a century these vocalises – all but one now held in the Archives nationales de France in Paris – have lain unknown to the musical world at large. Their first publication here marks a major event for the vocal teaching repertoire (as well as some entrancing music); a marvellous resource of skilfully devised vocal exercises ranging from elementary to advanced virtuoso level all from one of history’s greatest song composers.
