Pinafore) The Eton Boat Song and even Wagner's Flying Dutchman.Last Tango in HarrisEveryone must surely know these thinly disguised Scottish tunes but can you make them sound like a tango? Bear in mind that tangos are not jazz: the rhythm is quite strict but the tango character is in the tone and the phrasing. Notice how expressive the occasional shorter note value can be as in bars 4 and 5 in the bassoon part.Rheumanian StretchesOr was that Rumanian Sketches? This is a chance to play the main melody in two registers of the bassoon. Try to make a good even sound in both octaves. This piece requires careful counting since the phrases in the bassoon part don't always begin where you might expect. Think of this piece as a song.

For Bassoon-To this day Eugène Bozza (1905-1991) remains one of the most prolific composers for wind instruments despite being a violinist himself. His 12 Caprices for Bassoon is no exception to the composer's success. During his studies at the Paris Conservatoire Bozza won prizes for Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He then conducted the orchestra of the Opéra-Comique and became Head of the Conservatoire in Valenciennes whilst remaining a prominent composer. Compiled in 1968 Bozza's 12 Caprices addresses a variety of very difficult advanced features of the Bassoon includingcomplex rhythms articulation chromaticism variations in time signatures breath control phrasing intervals scales and arpeggios amongst other aspects. For all advanced Bassoon players Bozza's 12 Caprices are essential to continue to develop technique to a high standard.

Scales and Daily Exercises (Part 1)-Fernand Oubradous (1903-1986) was a French bassoonist conductor and composer. He is best remembered for his tutoring compilation Complete Study of the Bassoon. This Oubradous series comprises three parts. The first of these focuses on scales and daily exercises. These cover a range of keys articulation intervals rhythms and range among other aspects. Moreover Outbradous' Complete Study of the Bassoon Part One contains a detailed fingering chart for the instrument.
