Oboe Solo - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1018926 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 4 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6072953. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018926). Fugue: Wear Pearls and Smile is, on the outset, a fast, rambunctious adventure for many voices playing at the same time. It was conceived as a pairing for the equally vivacious second symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven–his 250th birthday is this year–but can stand on its own as one of my hardest, most challenging works to cook up.This piece is dedicated to those forced to appear positive when internally they’re falling apart. The title is inspired by a quote that’s been with me for a while, Why is it that men can be bastards and women must wear pearls and smile? by Lynn Hecht Schafren, the celebrated American jurist famous for campaigning for gender equity in courts. I’m taking the quote out of its initial context, but the power of that quote, for me, exemplifies how hard it is to maintain a sense of emotional decorum and dignity when you’re authentically a hot mess. And what’s more of a musical hot mess than a fugue? There are two realities to this piece. I’ll quote Dmitri Shostakovich, from his autobiography: The rejoicing is forced, created under threat, […] It’s as if someone were beating you with a stick and saying, ‘Your business is rejoicing, your business is rejoicing,’ and you rise, shaky, and go marching off, muttering ‘Our business is rejoicing, our business is rejoicing.’ On the one hand, it is insincere happiness, cloying perhaps. But the other truth, I’ll quote Oscar Hammerstein II, from The King and I: While shivering in my shoes / I strike a careless pose / And whistle a happy tune / And no one ever knows, / I'm afraid. I forced myself, against all impulses of my current being, to forge happiness. This piece, with its origin being a mental puzzle (fugues are puzzles), it became a construct where I could lift myself up and regain a sense of purpose. Therefore, it is invented–out of a literal need to survive–pure, genuine happiness.Future Performances: If you are interested in performing this work, please e-mail me.ABOUT THE COMPOSER: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings , with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Composed by Various. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Christian, Sacred, Praise and Worship. Score, Set of Parts. 244 pages. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications
Here?sa new collection of thirty-two of America?s best-loved hymn tunes, at a bargainprice too! The arrangements are intended either as stand-alone pieces thatcould be used as interludes in a service, or they could be used to accompanysolo, choral or congregational singing.
Thepublication consists of a four-staff score in concert pitch together withfifteen separate parts in various transpositions including a simplifiedoptional keyboard part. These four-partarrangements use flexible instrumentation so that you can exercise considerablecontrol over the instrumental voicing or use them for non-standard ensembles. You can also create interesting instrumentaltone color by omitting groups of instruments. If the ensemble is large enoughyou could omit brass instruments in the quieter sections, or use a solo trumpetagainst a woodwind background. There are endless possibilities.
Thecomplete set includes Part 1 in B flat, E flat and C (high and low pitch); Part2 in B flat, E flat and C; Part 3 in B flat, E flat, F and C and Part 4 in Bflat, E flat and C. While Part 1 (high pitch) is suitable for flute and oboebeing an octave above concert, the low pitch version is more suited toelementary players. Part 2 in C is an octave higher than concert. Parts 3 and 4in C are in the bass clef. The arrangements could be played by virtually anycombination of conventional wind instruments. Using the optional keyboard partthey could also be used as solos, duets or trios. The scores and all the parts are containedin a single 244-page PDF file.
The collection includes the followingtitles: A Mighty Fortress IsOur God (Ein? Feste Burg); All Creatures Of our God and King(Lasst uns Erfreuen); All People that on Earth do Dwell (OldHundredth); Abide with Me (Eventide); AllHail the Power of Jesus? Name (Coronation); Amazing Grace (Trad); At the Cross(Alas and Did My Savior Bleed) (Hudson); Be Thou My Vision(Slane); Blessed Assurance(Assurance); Blest Be the Tie That Binds (Dennis - Nägeli); ComeThou Fount of Every Blessing (Nettleton); ComeWe That Love the Lord (St. Thomas);Crown Him with ManyCrowns (Diademata); Guide Me OThou Great Jehovah (Cwm Rhondda); Holy, Holy, Holy(Nicea); How Firm a Foundation (Foundation); It is Wellwith my Soul (Ville du Havre); Jesus Christ is Risen Today(Easter Hymn);Jesus, Lover of My Soul (Hollingside); JesusPaid it All (All to Christ); Joy to theWorld (Antioch); Just as I Am, Without one Plea (Woodworth); Love Divine, AllLoves Excelling (Hyfrydol); Nearer my God to Thee (Bethany); Praise To the Lord, The Almighty(Lob den Herren); Rock of Ages (Toplady); Shall we gather at the River?(Hanson Place); The Day thou Gave us, Lord is Ended (St. Clement); To God Be The Glory(To God be the Glory); There is a Fountain (Cleansing Fountain); What a Friend WeHave in Jesus (Converse) and WhenI Survey the Wondrous Cross (Hamburg).

Instrumental Solo - Level 2 - SKU: A0.1271184 By Billie Eilish. By Billie Eilish O'Connell and Finneas O'Connell. Arranged by Thomas Gunther. Children,Contemporary,Film/TV. Individual part. 4 pages. Thomas Gunther Music Productions #863576. Published by Thomas Gunther Music Productions (A0.1271184). About the arrangement This is pianist/arranger Thomas Gunther's beautiful and highly accurate piano solo arrangement of the 2023 Barbie Movie features Billie Eilish's song WHAT I WAS MADE FOR.  It includes even Billie's quiet humming passages. This solo piano version can be played all by itself, or with Billie's recording of the song.It is easy enough to learn for pianists that have no amazing techniqual skills, but can be challanging in different ways, as explained below. From the Arranger Thomas Gunther  The most challenging task when writing this solo piano arrangement of What I Was Made For was to notate Billie's rhythm accurately. Her melodic rhythm is very important as it supports the flow of the lyrics perfectly. Notating a singer's rhythm can unfortunately never be 100% perfect (notation is by definition quantized), but I think I got very close. An other challenge was to get the accompaniment sound like the original without stepping on the melody notes. Looking at my final version I think it is as good as it gets for a piano adaption of this highly emotional song.I really hope all you Billie Eilish fans out there will enjoy playing this arrangement! How difficult is it As mentioned earlier, the song looks simple, but to play it well there is a lot of things the pianist has to take care of. The most challenging aspect is to sustain some notes by either using clever fingering or employing the sustain pedal. Also, dynamics are really important, especially when ballancing the accompaniment against the melody. Fingering I included fingering numbers to give the pianist a starting point. But fingering is a highly subjective affaire. Every pianist should feel free to adapt her/his own fingering as see fit. Sustain pedal usage The sustain pedal usage is very important in this arrangement (I included sustain pedal markings for this very reason). For one, it helps sustaining some notes that can't be held otherwise, and of course to make the sound fuller (more cinematic). It is important to use the pedal to create a sense of space (distance). After all, the original recording uses a lot of reverb to achieve that. Chord Symbols I did not include pop chord symbols because the harmony to the the song is very simple and based around 4 diatonic chords. It would just cludder up the score. At PopJazzKeys.com/Barbie I talk a little bit about the chords.

Arranged by a do Ray me flute studio production Ray-Michael Kauffman. 21st Century,Contemporary,Film/TV,Pop,Singer/Songwriter. 53 pages. As do Ray meflute studio production #837642. Published by as do Ray meflute studio production (A0.1242493). The Village by Wrabel, arranged for flute choir /ensemble arranged by me, Ray-Michael Kauffman. This beautiful and poignant song is part of my Compositions that care series, meaning all profits from thios arrangemnt goes to a charity. This charity is for LGBTQ+. ( about the song meaning)Wrabel, the composer, stated the song is about the LGBTQ+ community and all the hardships they face. The song is directed and to encourage and give hope to a trans person who is being treated poorly and ostracized , and to let that perosn struggling know that there is absolutely Nothing wrong with you and there's soemthing wrong with the village.Too many of the trans/LGBTQ+ comminity are struggling , especially in todays political climate. All around the world LGBTQ+ persons are being bullied, discriminated against , attacked, thrown in jail , and even killed with liitle to no laws to protect people.in my own personal life, as a victim of a horrible hate crime where the person involved attmepted to beat me and kill me , unfortuanelty i found out very qucikly how laws even in the USA do not protect me , how many cops ignored me and/or attmepted to make the attack my fault , and how laywers did not want to help and judges either ,and beacsue of the laws i was not protected as a minority and the crime wasn't a hate crime even though the criminals admitted this as the reason of the attack.I was told that this was not a hate crime , unless the criminals made me a victim of S.A., used a car/vehicle , or a gun, or actually ended my life. I also wanted to add , this brutal attack ( recorded on video by the criminals ) which caused such serious bodily harm, had me in the hospital for surgeries, and required months of long and painful rehab and therapy. As a country, as a society, as a planet , we all need to do better, and have to have more protections for such a discriminated group of persons.I did want to add , all the issues happening around the world, and even here in the USA, such as the awful and fascist discrimitory laws in Florida and other states it's no wonder the statistics of LGBTQ+ that contemplate ending their person or even attempting the act .I ask respectfully that every one please go to law makers and demand better laws and treatments of people no matter what community there are of. All people deserve respect, proper medcial care, and to have the same rights as every other human being. We all can and must be the change you wish to see in the world. Full Orchestra - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1018921 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score and parts. 35 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6072943. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018921). Viola Solo - Level 5 - SKU: A0.1018938 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. Individual part. 5 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6072979. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018938). Published by Monica Bergo (A0.976861). 2017 Holiday Contest EntryNEMESIS I enter the room of my consciousness That incredible disorder I rummage through the drawers Where I keep sufferings And the ineradicable memories Dust that knows of regret Spider webs cover my time, I recompose pieces of life But I'm here for you Fleeting shadow And my face reflects, Inside you My nemesis, my alter ego You reflect me and then Are a dark ghost The imperfect and the unsaid I will let you be what you are, My soul, black and rending. If you destroy my image It does not matter Finally that door remains open And opening the border between dream and reality I stumble among people at my funeral Who cry, who laugh, It is my Carnival I look at them from above, a spectral profile Rush down into the void that I have inside Nobody hugs me, I touch the silence, Slow-motion of a movie without more viewers, Close the curtain of the world outside and ... and ... The snow falls , how cold it is For this actress without identity I escape from the frost of my uncertainties But there is no refuge save me from she Who is heat, but to hurt Is my animal instinct I'm alone in this storm But certainly I do not regret Your mood swings, your sterile love Even without, I will survive My nemesis now dominates Be careful! If she comes for you She destroys you, crushes you, is cruel and savage, And then she will laugh in your face And sitting here on the bank of my river I'm waiting for you to pass this way Naked and without arrogance I'll never get enough This dance that gives me joy And in the darkness I move safe and stealthy (what are you?) I'm not afraid of anything and I feel wicked (you are lost now) Souls dancing to the beat of their sins (you like us) In this limbo I disown my past days (and so will you be...) Wind and storm I'm not just this, The rumble of thunder I don't understand any longer which side I’m on And it goes against the wind and sharpens my torment I'm hungry for the Sun Nemesis cannot dominate me My nemesis is here, Is stronger than ever And I know that she is reaching for me And it’s she who does not know Ever to stop halfway, Is Lady of Vice and Deception She seizes me , she exhausts me because She does not accept the peace that I have inside She has no balance, Makes me waver, And frustrates what I have achieved Tell me that you'll disappear As a dream in the morning light And will be, within me, A memory clouded by time I leave the room of my consciousness To make order is impossible Strange this drawer, not only sufferings But something relentless Nemesis, it is no longer your time By now your fire is spent And I will be born again to enchantment By words and music Food for the soul ... Full Orchestra - Level 3 - SKU: A0.976734 Composed by Robert Myers. 20th Century,Christmas,Contemporary. Score and parts. 99 pages. WheatMyer Music #6496769. Published by WheatMyer Music (A0.976734). CONJUNCTION interprets the convergence of Jupiter and Saturn near the end of the year 2020 as a celestial metaphor for the good news of Christ's birth in a replay of the Star of Bethlehem. Hence, its subtitle of The Christmas Star of 2020. The music, along with narration from selected Old and New Testament scriptures, delivers a message of hope amid the turmoil and chaos of current times. It's written for smaller concert bands hungry for challenging music. Ample cues and doubling allow for flexible instrumentation while mixed meters, varying tempos and textures, and interesting solo lines provide opportunities for strong players to shine. CONJUNCTION is also available with strings for orchestra.PROGRAM NOTES:2020 is widely characterized for its maladies: murders, burning cities, riots, a pandemic, economic shocks, and political turmoil. For some of us, it also held personal tragedy such as my brother’s passing from COVID. But, 2020 also brought a sign of hope, namely the celestial phenomenon known as the Great Conjunction of 2020. For earth-bound observers, this was the closest approach of Jupiter and Saturn in almost 400 years as they appeared to almost touch in the early evening sky to produce the most brilliant evening star of our lifetimes. The occurrence of the event in November-December neatly coincided with the Advent season, peaking just before Christmas Day. One could hardly fail to note the parallels with the Christmas star of Matthew’s gospel which gave the conjunction its alternate name, the Christmas Star of 2020. Thus, this star spoke, to those with ears to hear, the same message the prophet Isaiah wrote about the coming Messiah, The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light. This star thus served to remind us that the LORD has not rejected us; He will show His favor again; His love has not vanished; His promises have not failed; He has not forgotten to be merciful or compassionate; and we are called to remember His mighty deeds (Psalm 77). CONJUNCTION: The Christmas Star of 2020 is inspired by these particulars. For the music, I looked to Gustav Holst’s The Planets for themes that would portray Jupiter and Saturn’s pas de deux. I selected several motives from the corresponding movements mixed and matched in sometimes easily recognized quotations and other times in heavily camouflaged derivations. An exuberant polyphonic passage recaps themes from both Jupiter and Saturn when the music resolves from uncertainty into hopefulness. While Holst’s motives provide CONJUNCTION’s foundation I also used Handel’s Messiah for transitory and climactic material. You will hear his The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light in transitions and a short trombone solo. And a re-harmonization of the opening line from For unto us a child is born brings the music to a joyous climax.Although the music stands firmly on its own, I elected to incorporate some narrative to make the musical sentiment explicit. In a commentary on 2020’s grim events, I took adaptations of Habakkuk 1:2-4 and 2 Tim 3:1-4 and set them over Saturn’s plodding and ominous harmonies. Contrasting replies shimmer with hope as the narration melds Isaiah 9:2 and Luke 1:78-79 over another Saturn motive set against pitch sets from Jupiter’s main hymn theme. Still, it’s the music that tells the story of the Christmas Star of 2020.Please visit my website for a complete score preview: https://wheatmyermusic.com/conjunction-the-christmas-star-of-2020I feel somewhat guilty making claim to this music as almost all the building blocks are taken from other composers. But the end result is neither a medley, nor an arrangement, rather it is something clearly new, so I call it my own with deep respect to those giants on whose shoulders I stand.Robert MyersS.D.G.

The Water Is Wide (O Waly Waly)
Duration: 5:24
Score: 10 pg. 121 ms., MM quarter = 94, final verse MM quarter = 80, common time
Solo part: 3 pg.
Piano part: 4 pg.
A thought-provoking arrangement of a Traditional Scottish Folksong. Probably most widely known as "The Water Is Wide,"
it is also well known by it's more ancient title: "O Waly Waly." The tune is also known as " When I Survey the Wondrous Cross," and "The Gift of Love."
This is an original arrangement from the ground up.
Programming:
If you are looking for something with new contrapuntal and harmonic adventures for a Lenten prelude or a meditation during Holy Week, this will fit the bill.
It could also work well in a recital setting because it fits well on the instrument, and provides a chance to show off long, sensitive musical phrases.
Some of the figures in the descant verse are a wee-bit more advanced so, this is for intermediate players rather than beginners.
Keep in mind these performance ideas:
1. It's a simple tune that needs to unfold in the due course of time, so don't rush it. A slight ritardando at the end of each verse may help if you want to further delineate the verses.
2. There is a lot of interesting counterpoint here, so be prepared to give-and-take on the dynamics more than what I have indicated.
3. The final verse is much slower and more mysterious, and the dynamics are crucial - the quieter the better. Piano - the last chord: take your time on the roll, make it nice and slow.
Synopsis of the arrangement:
verse 1: Simple quiet duet with the melody in the solo instrument.
verse 2: Melody in the solo instrument accompanied by a 2-part canon in the piano.
verse 3: Melody in the piano in 4-part harmony.
verse 4: 3-part canon on the melody (with a free accompaniment voice).
verse 5: 2-part canon with a free accompaniment in the solo part
verse 6: Melody in octaves with free bass in octaves; descant in the solo part - loudest verse.
verse 7: Very quiet ending verse - Modulates down a fourth, melody in the solo part accompanied by simple quartal/quintal
piano clusters over bass chords that suggest submerged church bells.
For better insight into the performance of this music: express the emotion indicated by the lyrics:
The Water Is Wide:
The water is wide, I cannot get over
Neither have I wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall row, my love and I
A ship there is and she sails the sea
She's loaded deep as deep can be
But not so deep as the love I'm in
I know not if I sink or swim
I leaned my back against an oak
Thinking it was a trusty tree
But first it bent and then it broke
So did my love prove false to me
I reached my finger into some soft bush
Thinking the fairest flower to find
I pricked my finger to the bone
And left the fairest flower behind
Oh love be handsome and love be kind
Gay as a jewel when first it is new
But love grows old and waxes cold
And fades away like the morning dew
Must I go bound while you go free
Must I love a man who doesn't love me
Must I be born with so little art
As to love a man who'll break my heart
When cockle shells turn silver bells
Then will my love come back to me
When roses bloom in winter's gloom
Then will my love return to me
The lyrics for "Waly, Waly, Gin Love Be Bonny" from Ramsay's Tea Table Miscellany (1724).
O Waly, waly (a lament ? "woe is me") up the bank,
And waly, waly doun the brae (hill),
And waly, waly, yon burn-side (riverside),
Where I and my love wont to gae.
I lean'd my back into an aik (oak),
I thocht it was a trusty tree;
But first it bow'd, and syne (soon) it brak (broke),
Sae my true love did lightly me.
O waly, waly, but love be bonnie (beautiful),
A little time while it is new,
But when 'tis auld (old), it waxeth cauld (cold),
And fades away like the morning dew.
O wherefore should I busk my heid (adorn my head)?
Or wherefore should I kame (comb) my hair?
For my true love has me forsook,
And says he'll never love me mair (more).
Now Arthur Seat shall be my bed,
The sheets shall ne'er be fyl'd by me,
Saint Anton's well shall be my drink,
Since my true love has forsaken me.
Martinmas wind, when wilt thou blaw (blow),
And shake the green leaves off the tree?
O gentle death, when wilt thou come?
For of my life I am weary.
'Tis not the frost, that freezes fell,
Nor blawing snaws (snow) inclemency,
'Tis not sic cauld (such cold) that makes me cry,
But my love's heart grown cauld to me.
When we cam in by Glasgow town,
We were a comely sight to see;
My love was clad in the black velvet,
And I my sell in cramasie (crimson).
But had I wist (known), before I kiss'd,
That love had been sae ill to win,
I'd lock my heart in a case of gold,
And pin'd it with a silver pin.
Oh, oh! if my young babe were born,
And set upon the nurse's knee,
And I my sell were dead and gane,
For a maid again I'll never be.[4]

String Quartet, Drum Set, Guitar, Bass Guitar - Advanced - By Dua Lipa, Dallas String Quartet. Arranged by Kyle Pudenz. Score, Set of Parts. 63 pages. Published by ViolinVagabond Music
This unique version of Dua Lipa's "Don't Start Now" was performed by Dallas String Quartet in their latest music video, and is now available to your ensemble as well!
"If you don't wanna see me dancing with..." some random person's iPod speaker instead of listening to your amazing string quartet, then Don't Start buying shoddy arrangements from free-gig-whatevers dot com. Instead, make the right choice for your ensemble and invest in high quality charts from real, professional arrangers. What you're getting here is not a 72% accurate transcription of someone's Dua Lipa YouTube piano cover that has been laid out "legibly enough" on 4 staves. This is a tasteful setting of one of the sexiest disco grooves to hit radio since the Beegee's untimely decline, and it highlights all those hip string parts from Dua's original track while adding some original figures to really make this tune pop as an instrumental version.
Within the pages of this fantastically funky fresh score, you'll find some simple (but effective) chopping, slapping & extended string techniques to help your ensemble get their groove on, an extendable outro solo where players can stretch their creative legs on a dull gig, and enough sneaky reharminizations to earn an oh-so-satisfying nod of approval from that one guy in the back of the audience who used to be in a jazz band.
This version of the score includes optional RHYTHM SECTION PARTS for guitar, bass, & drum set in addition to the standard string quartet. While this arrangement is more than capable of moving, grooving and soothing with just the string parts, there are a variety of scenarios in which you may find adding some of those "loud" instruments may benefit your ensemble, such as:
- Cool collaborations with non-classical musicians.
- Making peace and finally finding common ground with those heathens who use frets to play in tune.
- Performing at outdoor events... or anywhere where alcohol is served. Small talk doesn't stand a chance against drums!
- You just got the stage plot for the gig and are concerned people won't take you seriously if you have less than 7 inputs on your rider.
- You carpooled to the wedding with the band, and figured you guys might as well play something together during the reception rather than spend all night starting at the appetizers that you aren't allowed to eat.
... and the list goes on.
Help take your ensemble to a new level when expanding your gig repertoire this year. This chart will keep your musicians inspired and your audience's insatiable need to consume brand new music in alternative instrumentations satisfied. To be clear, some practice and/or rehearsal will likely be required, so sight reading is not recommended, but with just a little bit of effort this arrangement will be FUN for your group to play!
Performance time - approximately 3:00, longer if you want to vamp the outro
