Small Ensemble Medium Voice,Piano Accompaniment,Tenor Saxophone - Level 5 - SKU: A0.534375 Composed by Paul Wehage. Concert,Contemporary,Holiday,Love,Standards. Score and parts. 41 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #3396161. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534375). To You for Baritone, Tenor Saxophone and piano is dedicated to the American Baritone Kurt Ollmann, who has done much for the promotion and performance of American music both in the United States and abroad.Whitman’s poem speaks of seeing a stranger and feeling love for this person. In contrast to Poe’s To Helen, which treats a similar subject of a chance meeting of a stranger that the poet loves, Whitman does not idealize his subject but rather pointedly and brutally describes how he sees this person and what feelings (both negative and positive) this contemplation provokes in the poet’s mind In order to reflect this musically, there is an alternation between more introspective and brooding sections which are then followed by more ecstatic outbursts. The piece ends with the poet watching the stranger leave, expressing what the composer felt to be acceptance and release. As in any chamber music with voice, it is important that the two instruments allow the voice to predominate, regardless of the dynamics marked in their parts. The saxophonist should try as much as possible to match colour with the voice,in order to allow the contrapuntal exchanges between the voice and the saxophone to blend evenly. The pianist should play the passages at rehearsal marks E, G and K in a more soloist manner, always taking care not to cover the voice..To YouWhoever you are, I fear you are walking the walks of dreams,I fear these supposed realities are to melt from under your feet and hands,Even now your features, joys, speech, house, trade, manners, troubles, follies, costume, crimes, dissipate away from you,Your true soul and body appear before me.They stand forth out of affairs, out of commerce, shops, work, farms, clothes, the house, buying, selling, eating, drinking, suffering, dying.Whoever you are, now I place my hand upon you, that you be my poem,I whisper with my lips close to your ear.I have loved many women and men, but I love none better than you.O I have been dilatory and dumb,I should have made my way straight to you long ago,I should have blabb'd nothing but you, I should have chanted nothingbut you.I will leave all and come and make the hymns of you,None has understood you, but I understand you,None has done justice to you, you have not done justice to yourself,None but has found you imperfect, I only find no imperfection in you,None but would subordinate you, I only am he who will never consentto subordinate you,I only am he who places over you no master, owner, better, God,beyond what waits intrinsically in yourself.Painters have painted their swarming groups and the centre-figure of all,From the head of the centre-figure spreading a nimbus of gold-color'd light,But I paint myriads of heads, but paint no head without its nimbusof gold-color'd light,From my hand from the brain of every man and woman it streams, effulgently flowing forever.O I could sing such grandeurs and glories about you!You have not known what you are, you have slumber'd upon yourselfall your life,Your eyelids have been the same as closed most of the time,What you have done returns already in mockeries,(Your thrift, knowledge, prayers, if they do not return inmockeries, what is their return?)The mockeries are not you,Underneath them and within them I see you lurk,I pursue you where none else has pursued you,Silence, the desk, the flippant expression, the night, theaccustom'd routine, if these conceal you from others or fromyourself, they do not conceal you from me,The shaved face, the unsteady eye, the impure complexion, if thesebalk others they do not balk me,The pert apparel, the deform'd attitude, drunkenness, greed, premature death, all these I part aside. There is no endowment in man or woman that is not tallied in you,There is no virtue,.

Tenor Voice,Vocal Solo - Level 5 - SKU: A0.533282 Composed by Gregory Sullivan Isaacs. Contemporary,Holiday,Love. 21 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #2331251. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.533282). Whitman only published one book – Leaves of Grass – but it was always a work in progress. He added poems and revised others for each succeeding edition. Thus, the first edition (1819) was a small book with only 12 poems and the last, often refered to as the Deathbed Edition (1892), contained over 400. Some of these he wrote in “clusters†of related poems. Such is the case with the Calamus cluster. The title was chosen to alert the reader that these were poems about what he called “the love of comrades,†“manly love†or with the code word, “adhesiveness.†The concept of homosexuality, as we know it today, was very different in Whitman’s time, but violently socially taboo. Acorus calamus is a reed-like species of marsh grass. In Poetry and Prose, Whitman wrote that it s a … very large and aromatic grass, or root, spears three feet high—often called 'sweet flag'—grows all over the Northern and Middle States.†The phallic plant has always been a symbol of love and associated with the Greek myth of Kalamos, son of the river god who loved the youth Karpos. When Karpos died in a swimming accident, Kalamos transformed himself into a reed so he could always be near the spot where his beloved died, and the rustling of the reeds in the winds sounds like moans of mourning. The Calamus cluster, 39 poems in all, recount the story of a manly love found and lost from the perspective of some time later. They are bittersweet memories. I chose four poems for my own cluster. They represent the four stages of such a relationship: initial attraction, first coy interactions, full-blossomed love, and the bitterness of it’s ending. It is possible that these events actually happened or that they all occurred in the poets mind without ever revealing his thoughts to the intended. Some musical devices, such as the rustling of the leaves in the third song and the constant use of seconds as two people who are close but not yet together in the second one, are obvious. But, other than some indications of tempo, I hesitate to give out remarks about how to perform the songs, or even metronome markings, that might give the singer a preconceived notion. This situation has happened to everyone. So, I say to the singer: revive the memories of a similar event in your life: a particularly heartbreaking one is best. Bring the telling of that memory to the vivid present, and tell us that story as if it ending some time ago but the hurt remains strong, If, by some chance, the singer has not had this experience, he should wait to sing this cycle until he has. Guitar,Piano,Vocal,Voice - Level 3 - SKU: A0.1227409 By Ed Sheeran. By Ed Sheeran, Fred Gibson, Max Martin, and Shellback. Arranged by Barry McCormick. Pop,Singer/Songwriter. Score. 3 pages. B. McCormick #823387. Published by B. McCormick (A0.1227409). Get ready to play and sing along to Eyes Closed by Ed Sheeran with our Piano Reduction sheet music! This arrangement features an easy-to-follow reduction of our vocal and piano accompaniment arrangement with slight alterations to help with playability. If you want to add an extra layer of richness to your performance, grab a friend to play the Guitar chords (which are helpfully located above the melody). This heartfelt and emotional ballad is sure to leave you feeling inspired and moved, so grab your sheet music and get ready to make some beautiful music. Notes On the Sheet Music Melody The melody alters slightly on repeating for subsequent verses etc. These are notated using smaller bracketed note heads and should only be played/sung on the appropriate repeats. The decision was made to not notate the final chorus as sung however when performed/sung the final chorus could be ad-libbed to emulate the original should the performer desire. Structure The sheet music follows the structure of the song as heard in the recording. If the repeats are not obvious each section (Verse/PreChorus/Chorus) is marked by boxed texts for ease of navigation. Length One of my main aims in arranging popular titles is to make the effort to try and minimise the amount of pages required. As a Musician I hate having pages and pages of music that could have been condensed using repeats and other structure markings. This arrangement fully utilises these and this is part of the reason why the decision was made note to notate the final chorus as sung in the recording. Alternatives I also have an Voice, Piano, and Guitar Arrangement, which has the melody on its own staff with the guitar chords above with a simple piano accompaniment under neath. For the guitar players out there I have also made this into a lead sheet with just the melody, lyrics and chords. For these arrangements and others that I have done you can click on my publisher link above, B.McCormick. That will take you to all of my arrangements on site. About Ed Sheeran Ed Sheeran is an award-winning singer-songwriter known for his soulful and introspective lyrics. Born in England in 1991, Sheeran began playing guitar at a young age and started writing his own songs by age 14. He rose to fame with his debut album + in 2011 and has since become one of the most successful and beloved musicians of our time. Sheeran's music is known for its honesty, vulnerability, and emotional depth, and Eyes Closed from his Subtract (-) album is no exception. Get our sheet music arrangement today and experience the magic of Ed Sheeran's music in your own home.

This song starts with the narrator/lyricist saying that he overheard a guy at the train station trying to say farewell to his girl.  The guy would kiss her, bid her adieu, get on the train, then get off and do the whole thing over again.  And, he did this seven times!  What would he say to her each time?  He’d tell her that he’s leaving, that she shouldn’t cry, that he’ll write and that if she does not hear from him she should assume he’s been arrested.  What a romantic line!   Anyway, that’s the gist of the “Toot, Toot, Tootsie!†lyrics.  Credited to Gus Kahn, Ernie Erdman and Dan Russo, New York City’s Leo Feist, Inc. first published this upbeat, leave-taking song in 1922.  It had been one of 29 numbers featured in the 1921 Broadway production Bombo, a vehicle designed to showcase the talent of Al Jolson.  Six years later Jolson sang it in The Jazz Singer, generally recognized as the first sound feature film.  Additionally, all three composers, plus Ted Fio Rito and Eddie Cantor, also made early and very popular recordings.  This bubbly, cheerful arrangement opens in the key of F major with a suggested tempo of 120 BPM.  After an 8-measure introduction, the piece goes right to the familiar chorus with Trumpet 1 and Trombone switching leads and ending with a wonderful Fillmore-style smear.  The tempo then slows dramatically for a somewhat pensive interpretation of the verse, the narrator’s observations, Horn and Trumpet 1 alternating the lead.  At measure 67 the chorus repeats faster than ever, a recommended 132 BPM, as Trombone and the two Trumpets take turns with the melody.  This leads right into a repeat of the verse—this time played at full speed—and a change of key to D-flat major.  Trombone and Tuba play in unison, exchanging the melody with Trumpets, right on into the third go-round of the chorus.  The piece wraps up with a vaudeville-style conclusion and eventually fades away.  (But don’t miss Trombone's four-measure reference to “Charlottetown Is Burning Down/Goodbye, Liza Jane†at measure 141.)Lots of fun!  Completed in 2023, performance time at the suggested tempo runs about 2 minutes, 47 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge.  He would like to receive your suggestions, comments, corrections and criticisms.  For more arrangements by Les, enter Sweetwater Brass Press (without the quotation marks) in the Sheet Music Plus or Sheet Music Direct search box.

A thought-provoking arrangement of a Traditional Scottish Folksong. Probably most widely known as "The Water Is Wide,"
it is also well known by it's more ancient title: "O Waly Waly." The tune is also known as " When I Survey the Wondrous Cross," and "The Gift of Love."
This is an original arrangement from the ground up.
Programming:
If you are looking for something with new contrapuntal and harmonic adventures for a Lenten prelude or a meditation during Holy Week, this will fit the bill.
It could also work well in a recital setting because it fits well on the instrument, and provides a chance to show off long, sensitive musical phrases.
Some of the figures in the descant verse are a wee-bit more advanced so, this is for intermediate players rather than beginners.
Keep in mind these performance ideas:
1. It's a simple tune that needs to unfold in the due course of time, so don't rush it. A slight ritardando at the end of each verse may help if you want to further delineate the verses.
2. There is a lot of interesting counterpoint here, so be prepared to give-and-take on the dynamics more than what I have indicated.
3. The final verse is much slower and more mysterious, and the dynamics are crucial - the quieter the better. Piano - the last chord: take your time on the roll, make it nice and slow.
Synopsis of the arrangement:
verse 1: Simple quiet duet with the melody in the solo instrument.
verse 2: Melody in the solo instrument accompanied by a 2-part canon in the piano.
verse 3: Melody in the piano in 4-part harmony.
verse 4: 3-part canon on the melody (with a free accompaniment voice).
verse 5: 2-part canon with a free accompaniment in the solo part
verse 6: Melody in octaves with free bass in octaves; descant in the solo part - loudest verse.
verse 7: Very quiet ending verse - Modulates down a fourth, melody in the solo part accompanied by simple quartal/quintal
piano clusters over bass chords that suggest submerged church bells.
For better insight into the performance of this music: express the emotion indicated by the lyrics:
The Water Is Wide:
The water is wide, I cannot get over
Neither have I wings to fly
Give me a boat that can carry two
And both shall row, my love and I
A ship there is and she sails the sea
She's loaded deep as deep can be
But not so deep as the love I'm in
I know not if I sink or swim
I leaned my back against an oak
Thinking it was a trusty tree
But first it bent and then it broke
So did my love prove false to me
I reached my finger into some soft bush
Thinking the fairest flower to find
I pricked my finger to the bone
And left the fairest flower behind
Oh love be handsome and love be kind
Gay as a jewel when first it is new
But love grows old and waxes cold
And fades away like the morning dew
Must I go bound while you go free
Must I love a man who doesn't love me
Must I be born with so little art
As to love a man who'll break my heart
When cockle shells turn silver bells
Then will my love come back to me
When roses bloom in winter's gloom
Then will my love return to me
The lyrics for "Waly, Waly, Gin Love Be Bonny" from Ramsay's Tea Table Miscellany (1724).
O Waly, waly (a lament ? "woe is me") up the bank,
And waly, waly doun the brae (hill),
And waly, waly, yon burn-side (riverside),
Where I and my love wont to gae.
I lean'd my back into an aik (oak),
I thocht it was a trusty tree;
But first it bow'd, and syne (soon) it brak (broke),
Sae my true love did lightly me.
O waly, waly, but love be bonnie (beautiful),
A little time while it is new,
But when 'tis auld (old), it waxeth cauld (cold),
And fades away like the morning dew.
O wherefore should I busk my heid (adorn my head)?
Or wherefore should I kame (comb) my hair?
For my true love has me forsook,
And says he'll never love me mair (more).
Now Arthur Seat shall be my bed,
The sheets shall ne'er be fyl'd by me,
Saint Anton's well shall be my drink,
Since my true love has forsaken me.
Martinmas wind, when wilt thou blaw (blow),
And shake the green leaves off the tree?
O gentle death, when wilt thou come?
For of my life I am weary.
'Tis not the frost, that freezes fell,
Nor blawing snaws (snow) inclemency,
'Tis not sic cauld (such cold) that makes me cry,
But my love's heart grown cauld to me.
When we cam in by Glasgow town,
We were a comely sight to see;
My love was clad in the black velvet,
And I my sell in cramasie (crimson).
But had I wist (known), before I kiss'd,
That love had been sae ill to win,
I'd lock my heart in a case of gold,
And pin'd it with a silver pin.
Oh, oh! if my young babe were born,
And set upon the nurse's knee,
And I my sell were dead and gane,
For a maid again I'll never be.[4]
