Le ' petit livre d'orgue ', peut-être la plus célèbre collection jamais des préludes chorals, doit son titre à l'application de J.S. Bach pour le poste de Cantor à l'église Saint-Thomas de Leipzig. N'ayant pas un diplôme universitaire, Bach voulait démontrer ses qualités comme enseignant à travers ses compositions - y compris ses Inventions, Sinfonias et le ' bien tempérée Klavier '. Cela aussi amené à ajouter un titre trompeur au projet plus ambitieux de son temps à Weimar : il a appelé de cette collection de pièces de chorale preludes - initialement destinés à numéro 164 pièces - pour un ' organiste aspirant '. Hermann Schroeder's abundant oeuvre in the field of chorale-bound organ music is much less known among organists than his free - especially the concertante - organ works, although Hermann Schroeder as an organist felt particularly bound to liturgy and liturgical singing. And according to him, any liturgical organ music should always bear a direct relation to singing. The purpose of the present anthology is to provide the player a representative selection of Schroeder's chorale arrangements. Most of these chorales are relatively short and of medium difficulty at most. The chorale melody can be heard well most of the time so that the pieces are ideal for being used in church services. In the alphabetical index, the beginnings of song titles are accompanied by the corresponding number from Gotteslob (GL) or the Protestant Hymnal for better orientation./ Répertoire / Orgue

Aulos I to a certain degree continues Orbán's easy piano pieces for children, which he composed for Ágnes Lakos's piano tutor and which Editio Musica Budapest published in a separate volume entitled Enchanted Forest in 2011 (Z14742). Yet on this occasion the composer took on something which was both significantly different and more than his earlier pieces for children. On the one hand, he did not compose for beginners but for more advanced students who have studied piano for at least three years. On the other, he did not set developing the technique of piano playing as an aim, rather a systematic presentation of different polyphonic genres and compositional procedures (imitation, fugue, stretto, inversion, augmentation and diminution, double counterpoint, latent polyphony, double and triple fugue, cantus firmus technique, etc.). Orbán introduces his students to the mysteries of polyphony in a direct and practical manner, and thus actually makes them familiar with the art of composition.The educational use of the series is significantly increased by the fact that before each piece the composer presents and clarifies with demonstrative illustrations the polyphonic procedure he introduces. Orbán's explanations are not text-book-like at all, but are deliberately personal and subjective, full of lessons and individual associations taken from his practice as a composer. They were written in the same spirit as the works themselves - while they perfectly fulfil their educational purpose they are equally individual, witty and inspired pieces of music that are a joy to play. / Ensemble Mixte

The Ten Choral Preludes for Organ are intended for both liturgical purposes and concert performance. For this reason the notation is written in two staves which is not usual for the Organ. The former of the two purposes forced the composer to respect certain limitations of technical complexity so that even an untrained organist could perform the pieces. The themes to each overture are taken from Bohemian Brethren chorales which appear in their original form as brief ?intonations? in the first few bars preceding each overture.
