JAKOB FRANCISEK ZUPAN was born in 1734 in Schrotten (Austria) in slovenian familiy. In 1757 he married Josepha Gotzl, the daughter of Kamnik ludimagister Valentin Gotzl. Since 1757 untli his death in 1810 he lived in Kamnik (Slovenia), where he worked as organist and teacher. He wrote the first slovenian opera "Belin" after libreto from Janez Damascen Dev - but this music is lost, only the libreto survived. Today they are perserved 4 bigger pieces from Zupan (all in manuscripts), 2 Missas, Lythaniae, Te deum and several smaller Arias for 2 voices, violins and organ.
