Piano Pieces from the Nannerl Music Book-Piano Pieces From The 'Nannerl Music Book' contains 17 pieces composed by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart when he was between five and eight years old.When W. A. Mozart's sister Maria AnnaMozart known as Nannerl started receiving Piano lessons her father gave her a music book in which he and others gradually wrote down little recital pieces.This book was soon passed on to her brother and noticing hisremarkable talent for composing the children's father wrote down some of his son's first works in the book.This Henle Urtext edition is taken from the complete volume of Mozart’s Piano Pieces (HN22) and contains a newpreface by the editor Ullrich Scheideler. The final movement of the Sonata in A major KV 331 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart the Rondo Alla Turca is one of the most famous piano pieces of all time. Once only familiar to musical experts later a universal piece for all piano pupils its opening melody is now even omnipresent as an alienated sinus tone-like mobile phone ring tone. Fazıl Say's arrangement originally created as an effective encore follows on from this popularity. After the first eight bars have been presented in original form typical elements of jazz superimposed on the still recognisable classical foundations can be discovered such as syncopation of the top notes andornamentation through chromatic blue notes embedded in the at times frenzied chains of semiquavers. In the spirit of the work's improvisatory character Say likes to perfom his Alla Turca Jazz in different combinations for example accompanied by jazz singers of with orchestra. It may appear strange that Fazıl Say who was born in Turkey and - when not on tour - is still resident in that country does not bring back Mozart's interpretation of genuine Turkish music closer to its own roots particularly as many of his compositions such as Black Earth or the Violin Sonata are characterised by a subtle amalgamation of the Classical-Romantic tradition Turkish folk music and elements of jazz. In a further Mozart arrangement the ballet music Patara premiered in Vienna in 2006 composed on the basis of the Rococo-like theme from the first movement of the same A-major Sonata (wich enjoys almost as great popularity as the Alla Turca theme) Say utilised the connection which was absent in Alla Turca albeit in the opposite direction. In the ballet music the piano symbolises Western culture and the Ney flute Oriental culture communcated atmosperically by austere percussion instrumentation and soprano vocalisation.

Edition without Fingering-Published in a two-volume edition (HN1 and HN2) Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's 18 Piano Sonatas were the very first pieces in the Henle catalogue. These popular sonatas remain part of the core repertory of everypianist. In the intervening decades since the release of the original Urtext edition both volumes have been revised several times in order to keep pace with the current state of research. The latest update concerning K.331 the “Alla turca” sonata from volume 2 dates from 2015. The editor’s preface and critical report provide detailed information on all the sources and textual issues. HN1 and HN2 include fingerings; here Henlepresents both volumes without fingerings for pianists who want to find their own way into Mozart’s Piano universe.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's (1756-1791) Flute Concerto In G was written by the composer in 1778. The Concerto remains widely studied and performed on the Flute making it one of the most important Concerti in the instrument's repertoire. Paul Taffanel and Philippe Gaubert's composed cadenzas for the work are essential to all performers of the concerto. Concerto In G is in three movements; 1. Allegro maestoso 2. Adagio ma non troppo and 3. Rondo: Tempo di Menuetto. The first and last movements are in the tonic key whilst the second movement is in the subdominant key of D major. All threemovements contain a cadenza which initially would have been left for the performer to improvise. However cadenzas have since been written including those of Taffanel and Gaubert. Both were prominent flautists of their time and their understanding of the Flute concerto repertoire is second to none making their cadenzas well-informed and essential to performers of the concerto.
