Claribelle is fairly unique as a solo piece as rather than using one soloist it uses the whole clarinet section to play the solo part. . The composition is characterised by a fast tempo and by a theme which primarily consists of scale patterns that create a virtuoso character. Wim Laseroms wrote the piece in ABA-form with the accompaniment in the middle section having a somewhat more lyric character than that of the first and last sections. In the coda the solo and the accompaniment join forces and conclude this short work in style with a brilliant fortissimo.
