Suite for Oboe and Eh

A new suite of pieces for Oboe and Piano which will be ideal for concert use and also for teaching material. The Dales Suite refers to the Yorkshire Dales and the cover picture is Penyghent one of the Three Peaks.The three pieces in the set range from expressive and lyrical to fast and furious in the Old English Dance style.

Born in Toulouse Marcel Bitsch (1921-2011) went on to study at the Paris Conservatoire before becoming a professor of counterpoint at the institution. As an exceptionally versatile musician Bitsch has composed orchestral works chamber works and numerous popular pieces for wind instruments French Suite On Themes From The 17th Century for Oboe being no exception. suitable for advanced oboists Bitsch's French Suite On Themes From The 17th Centurywas published in 1964. With a typical performance lasting around 7 minutes and 45 seconds the Suite is made up of four movements;Pavane Gaillarde Gigue and Riguadon. Bitsch's French Suite On Themes From The 17th Century addresses many musical aspects from the 17th century and is an outstanding and necessary addition to the Oboe repertoire.

Composed by Eugène Bozza in 1947  Short Suite In Trio Form Op. 67 is a piece for Oboe Clarinet and Bassoon. This edition features the parts for the three instruments and a full score. This four-movement work is quite difficult and would be perfect for advanced players. A great piece for recitals it is also really interesting to play for each of the three instruments. The four movements are Allegro moderato which starts with the Oboe Allegro vivo Adagio espressivo and Allegro vivo and the piece lasts approximatively 10 minutes. Eugène Bozza won different prizes at theConservatoire de Paris such as the First Prizes for the Violin conducting and composition as well as the Grand Prix de Rome. He composed several operas chamber works and ballets among others.

This complete suite started life as a collaborative dance project with the acclaimed choreographer Henri Oguike and was first performed in its entirety as acommission from Serendipity UK as part of the Let’s Dance International Festival 2014. paperbound-Carl Nielsen?s Fantasy Pieces for Oboe and Piano were composed in 1889/90. Having just gained a position as a violinist in the Royal Danish Orchestra Nielsen had already experienced successwith his String Suite Op. 1 both as a composer and as a conductor. Several sketches and autographs bear witness to his intensive work on these contrasting pieces for Oboe which were to appear in 1890 as his Opus 2.The twomovements Romance and Humoreske are dedicated to the oboist Olivo Krause who played in the royal orchestra. His beautiful tone and virtuosic technique probably played no small part in the fact that these miniatures by the?young talented composer? took the public and critics by storm at their first performance in March 1891.

The Little Shepherd is a delightful movement from Debussy's Children's Corner Suite and has been skilfully arranged for Oboe with Piano accompaniment by Jerry Lanning.The solo oboe part is also included on a separate insert.

Northumberland Impressions (Op. 42a) is a suite for solo Oboe with Piano accompaniment. It was written by Alan Bush in 1953 and first performed in the same year by the oboist Joy Boughton with the composer accompanying on the Piano. It is scored in three movements: Prelude - Lament - Dance.Alan Bush (1900-1995) was a British composer and pianist. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music and the University of Berlin and also took private lessons in composition with John Ireland. He later taught at the Royal College of Music. His compositions include several operas four symphonies and a large volume of chambermusic.

Jacques (le Romain) Hotteterre's Suite in D Major (Op.2/1) for Flute and Continuo. This can also be played on Oboe Violin and Treble Viol.
