The Serenade KV 203 was written 1774 probably as a so called Finalmusik for the end of termat Salzburg University ansd was later dedicated to Archbishop Colloredo for his name day. The present Arrangement for solo violin, 2 violins and Cello is an ideal introduction to Mozart's Music for Young string Players. The work can as well be played with soloists as with an orchestra; the 2nd part is also printed for viola.

The Chinese conceptions yin and yang represent the two contradicting principles of an object or phenomenon, such as day and night, light and dark, man and woman. In Yin Yang Serenade this can be found in the musical opposites, legato-staccato and minor-major, creating an work with great atmospheric contrast.

De Chinese begrippen yin en yang vertegenwoordigen de twee tegenovergestelde principes van een voorwerp of verschijnsel, zoals dag en nacht, licht en donker, man en vrouw, enz. In Yin Yang Serenade is dit onder andere terugte vinden in de tegenstellingen legato-staccato en mineur-majeur - waardoor een mooi sfeercontrast ontstaat.

Die chinesischen Symbole Yin und Yang stehen für zwei gegensätzliche Prinzipien eines Objekts oder Phänomens, wie zum Beispiel Tag und Nacht, Licht und Dunkel oder Mann und Frau. In Jacob de Haans Yin Yang Serenade bestehen die Prinzipien in den musikalischen Gegensätzen legato und staccato sowie Moll und Dur. Le Yin et le Yang sont le masculin et le féminin, le jour et la nuit, l’obscurité et la lumière, etc. Dans Yin Yang Serenade, Jacob de Haan applique cette conception la musique en opposant le jeu en legato au jeu en staccato, la tonalité mineure la tonalité Majeure, etc., donnant ainsi naissance des contrastes éthérés et fluides.
