In the south German-Austrian region the Pastoral Mass of Johann Baptist Schiedermayr was regarded as one of the most well-known and beloved works in this genre. Engaging melodies, passages in thirds and sixths, and typical pastoral motives, such as horn calls and open fifths, the latter a reminder of the bourdon of bagpipes or a hurdy-gurdy, characterize the movements of the Mass. Lyrical sections, such as the Et incarnatus est, which is the center of Shiedermayr's setting of the Ordinary, alternate with festive passages in which trumpets and timpani brilliantly express the festive joy of Christmas. Score and part available separately - see item CA.2706900.

From the composer of Festival of Carols and The Winter Rose comes a cantata that celebrates the legacy of early American carols and hymnody. Composed in the spirit of folk music, the cantata combines traditional sounds with more rustic elements creating a blend that is fresh and pleasing. Popular American carols like Away In a Manger and O Little Town of Bethlehem dance with traditional spirituals such as Children, Go Where I Send Thee and Go, Tell It on the Mountain. Sacred Harp tunes are re-tooled for Advent and stand alongside new versions of Shaker hymns and Appalachian melodies. Thoughtful narration weaves the movements together in a meaningful tapestry of song and Scripture. Two orchestral options are available allowing maximum flexibility in performance. A full line of support products is also available. The Latin text of the mass is venerable, universal, and unites people. For the German Protestant Church Congress 2015, this ancient text was set in contemporary style by Tilman Jager under the title Missa Pacis. Impressive sounds, mystic-meditative moods, Latin American rhythms, catchy melodies and a Dona nobis pacem for everyone to join in combine in the Missa Pacis to form a convincing whole. The hour-long composition is scored for 4-8 part chorus with optional soloists and accompanying band. The work is generally tonal, but offers a breadth of different styles ranging from classical choral-symphonic to rhythmic choral movements with influences from gospel, jazz, and pop. Parts for the accompanying band are fully written out. In some sections of the mass the instrumentalists can also improvise. Score available separately - see item CA.2800500.
