Along with the Fantasy Pieces for clarinet and piano, and the Three Romances for oboe and piano, it rounds out his small yet important output of solo repertoire for wind instruments. Here, it has been arranged here for either Alto Clarinet (in E-flat) or Basset Horn (in F) and piano. This work can be played with either an Alto Clarinet or a Basset Horn. Although Schumann’s style suits the clarinet extremely well he did not write a great deal for the instrument The Three Romances Op.94 were written for oboe with clarinet and violin as suggested alternatives. The Three Romances contrast strongly with one another and this is important to bring out when interpreting these delightful miniatures. This version is for Clarinet with Piano Accompaniment and has been edited by Yona Ettlinger.The solo Clarinet in A and Clarinet in B flat parts are also included on separate inserts.
