These vocal scores (BA9181, BA9182, BA9183) of Mozart?s concert and insert arias are based on the ?New Mozart Edition? (NMA). The first three volumes comprise all arias for soprano and orchestra. They are classified according to voice type (high soprano, soprano, low soprano and alto) and arranged chronologically within the volumes.

Unlike the NMA the musical text presented in these editions is free from practical references on performance aspects or suggestions on performance practice. Instead, each volume contains a accompanying brochure, with detailed explanations on the execution of appoggiaturas and other performance practice phenomena which are relevant to every aria. In addition, there is a choice of suggestions for the performance of cadenzas and lead-ins as well as a suggestion for the ornamentation of dal segno parts, which are often found in the early Mozart arias.

Franz Beyer's new edition of Mozart's complete concert arias had a noticeable gap up to now: there were no arias for the bass voice! Four books had been issued by 2006 the Mozart year: three with soprano arias (EB 8671-73) and one with tenor arias (EB 8778). They were made with the collaboration of two outstanding experts Juliane Banse (soprano) and Christophe Prégardien (tenor) who provided suggestions for the execution of cadenzas 'Eingänge' and embellishments. Now Beyer presents the 'complete edition' for the lowest voice in collaboration with bass singer Robert Holl. The nine surviving bass arias are chiefly works from Mozart's last creative phase in which the composer offered little tidbits to the opera singers he was friends with. Deserving special attention are the arias 'Per questa bella mano' K. 612 (with obbligato double bass) and 'Männer suchen stets zu naschen' K. 433. While editing this aria Beyer completed the orchestral accompaniment that Mozart had only sketched which means that this piece is now available for the first time with an orchestral accompaniment in an authentic Mozartian style.

En novembre 1778, Mozart est à Mannheim où il ébauche un deuxième concerto pour hautbois en fa majeur un an après avoir achevé son premier, le concerto en ut majeur KV 314 datant de début 77, le seul qui hélas nous parviendra dans son intégralité. On ne sait rien de la genèse de ce concerto, ni de la raison pour laquelle le compositeur n'acheva que le tutti initial et le début du solo, mais il est fort probable qu'il soit lié à sa rencontre avec Friedrich Ramm comme en témoigne sa correspondance à son père datée du 4 décembre 1777 « un hauboïste qui joue fort bien et qui a un son très pur». Mozart composera pour lui le quatuor KV 370 en 1781. À l'opposé du hautbois, les sopranos disposent chez le compositeur d'un répertoire d'une richesse éblouissante avec souvent un traitement de la voix d'une virtuosité rappelant celle des instruments jouant dans le même registre. Il était donc très tentant de construire un concerto avec deux arias en fa majeur, le KV 538 « Ah se il ciel, begnine stelle » et le KV 638 « Ma que vi fece » sans le récitatif initial. Ces deux airs seront proposés ici avec la partie originale et une proposition légèrement ornementée pour un rendu plus purement instrumental. En guise de deuxième mouvement, j'ai utilisé l 'Andante pour flûte et orchestre KV 315, originellement en do majeur que j'ai baissé d'un ton pour une relation classique fa-si b,-fa. Pour le hautbois, c'est une nouvelle opportunité de se mouvoir dans cette musique à la magique pureté et la vitalité sans cesse renouvelée !
