Haydn composed over 100 compositions, each in three movements, for his wealthy employer Nicolas Esterhazy, who played the six-string instrument called a Baryton, which in shape looked much like our modern day cello, but, of course, with six rather the cello four strings. His original scores were composed of three lines: the solo part, an inner filler part for viola and a bass part. I have realized the piano part. Barbara Kirkby-Mason (1910-2000) was a British composer, pianist and pedagogue. She studied Piano at the Royal Academy of Music, and developed a career as a composer, lecturer and adjudicator. She is best known for herPiano method books such as The Modern Piano Course and The Adult Beginner, and continued writing books on Piano playing and theory right into her 80s.

The ensemble work “Scattered Shades,†composed in 2014, of the Chinese composer Guoping Jia for the instrumentation flute, clarinet, violin, violoncello and piano was premiered on 21 May 2014 in Beijing at the 'Beijing Modern Music Festival,' performed by the ensemble 'Les Temps Modernes.' Although this work received its essential inspiration from ancient Chinese pen-and-ink painting, it also simultaneously documents the overcoming of a creative crisis. During an artistically difficult period, Jia assigned himself the task in 1997 to compose a study that was to supersede the compositional techniques used so far with the means of rational construction. “Scattered Shades†has recourse to this study, retracing its structure in a more profound way with a different ensemble.
