This book presumes a basic knowledge of these skills, however, interspersed amongst the exercises are are bits of advice from the author, as well as three of her teachers, Stacey Steele (Slippery Rock University), Angeleita Floyd (University of Northern Iowa) and Katherine Borst Jones (Ohio State University) to help master this skill. Additionally, the book is quite unique in that it helps the player familiarize themself with the various modes by explaining the music theory behind them, as well as giving plenty of examples.
