In Die Last-tragende Liebe oder Emma und Eginhard (1728) several strands and levels of plot are interwoven in complex fashion. The serious is intertwined with the comic, affairs of state with the individually human. People of high rank and lower rank communicate with each other, one group perfectly understanding the language of the other and even capable of speaking it if necessary.Charlemagne, emerging victorious from a war, learns that his daughter Emma and his secretary Eginhard have fallen in love with each other. As Emperor, Charlemagne, pressed by his wife Fastrath, has to oppose this relationship, but as a loving father he comes into conflict, as Emma has to decide between her love or a marriage befitting her social standing. In addition to this, Emma is wooed by Prince Heswin who in turn is loved by Emma’s friend Hildegard. The servant Barbara, who is pursued by the factotum Urban, is in love with Eginhard, but it is Steffen, the commentator on everything, who succeeds in winning her.Telemann’s highly complex music, expressive and emotional, artistic and stylish, is suited to each and every situation and level – “an incomprable masterpiece by Herr Telemann who is never praised enough”, as the printed libretto stated.

The Last Rose of Summer is a popular Irish folksong. The original text was written by Thomas Moore (1779-1852) and the melody is a traditional air titled The Groves of Blarney. The German composer Friedrich von Flotow (1812-1883) cleverly used this song in his opera Martha, a light-hearted, successful work that is still regularly performed. The melancholy character of The Last Rose of Summer still appeals to many people in the present day and this arrangement by Wil van der Beek certainly does justice to the beauty of the melody. A wonderful item to change the mood of any performance. The Last Rose of Summer is een geliefd Iers volkslied. The Last Friend of Napoleon is based on a true piece of Dutch history. In October 1813, when Napoleon was beaten after his unsuccessful Russian campaign, the French withdrew from the Netherlands. At the beginning of 1814, the whole country had been liberated except for the town of Delfzijl, still occupied by French troops. This programmatic work is about political and military stubbornness, chasing dreams, and about love always following its own unequalled way. Being one of the most acknowledged composers of today, Dirk Brossé has created an epic work that depicts a dramatic story, using the full range of the symphonic band resulting in challenging brass passages, a widerange of percussion and a lot of strong, beautiful and melodic material. The Last Friend of Napoleon is gebaseerd op een waargebeurd stukje Nederlandse geschiedenis. The Last Friend of Napoleon est basé sur une histoire vraie néerlandaise.

Using several versions of the original work as inspiration, Zack Stachowski has arranged The Seven Last Words of Christ for solo instrument and piano, making Haydn’s music accessible to music ministers who may not have access to larger instrumental ensembles. These prayerful meditations can be used as preludes, as music for reflection, or in ritual when singing is not permitted. Though the pieces are inspired by the Seven Last Words from the Cross and find their most obvious fit in the season of Lent and Holy Week, the diversity of color and character makes them suitable on other occasions throughout the entire year. (Since these arrangements were envisioned as liturgy preludes or as instrumental pieces during ritual, Haydn’s original prelude and earthquake movements have been excluded due to their overtly dramatic and performative nature.) .

The Last Dream of the Old Oak (Le dernier rêve du chêne) deMaxime Aulio s’inspire du conte éponyme d’Andersen.
