Organ Chorales from the Neumeister Collection-Organ Chorales from the Neumeister CollectionYale University Manuscript 'LM 4708'In 1985 Christoph Wolff working at Yale University discovered a collection of 82 chorales compiled by Johann Gottfried Neumeister (1756-1840) which contained 38 compositions by Johann Sebastian Bach. They reveal great stylistic variety whose forebears stem from the Northern German organ tradition. Already these early works comprising fantasias fugues fughettas and imitative techniques employing motifs from chorale melodies bear witness to Bach?s broad compositional spectrum. This newly published volume is an updated edition of Series IV/9 of the ?New Bach Edition? (NBA) edited by Christoph Wolff and based on this source. In addition to a newly added concordance and corrections to the musical text it also contains a detailed Foreword by Christoph Wolff with further information on the Neumeister Collection and hymnological details. The source of the complete Neumeister Collection has recently been made available on ?Bach digital? shedding light on the manuscript for the very first time.Links to major sources have been provided in collaboration with the Bach Leipzig Archive and its database ?Bach digital?. The desired page of the source can be accessed quickly and conveniently via URLs at http://links.baerenreiter.com. The links stored there are examined for their validity on a regular basis.Any complete scholarly critical edition of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach must incorporate new research findings in the interest of scholars and performers alike. Now all of Bärenreiter?s new performing editions of Bach?s organ works are being revised to reflect the current state of scholarship and to convey maximum fidelity to the sources by being linked to ?Bach digital?.- Links to relevant sources in ?Bach digital?- Detailed new Foreword about the Neumeister Collection by Christoph Wolff (Ger/Eng)- Complete new engraving

Third Part of the Clavier Ubung-In 1739 Bach?s Third Part of the Clavier Ãœbung ...(+)
Third Part of the Clavier Ubung-In 1739 Bach?s Third Part of the Clavier Übung was published on 80 pages closely printed. Ever since then the collection has been regarded as a high point in the history of Organ composition as it offers an impressive cross section of Bach?s artistry. This present volume is an updated edition of Volume 4 Series IV of the New Bach Edition presented by Manfred Tessmer in 1969. A fully revised edition proved unnecessary as there were relatively few corrections affecting the musical text. However the volume now includes a detailed Preface by Christoph Wolff which discusses not only the work?s genesis but also offers an up-to-datedescription of the sources. For the new engraving of the musical text page-turns were reviewed and improved.Bach?s autograph is considered lost and so the main source is the original print of the collection from 1739. In collaboration with the Leipzig Bach Archive and its database Bach Digital this new edition includes links to two important copies of the original print which contain hand-written entries by Bach himself.Any complete scholarly-critical edition of the works of Johann Sebastian Bach must in the interest of its use by researchers and performers incorporate intervening new discoveries wherever possible. With this in mind Bärenreiter has entered an agreement with the Leipzig Bach Archive to reissue particular volumes as applicable either in updated performing editions based on the New Bach Edition or in thoroughly revised editions based on the New Bach Edition - revised. In this way each new performing edition will represent the cutting edge of research.Further hallmarks of this new generation of Urtext editions will be detailed up-to-date Prefaces and newly engraved musical texts with optimum page turns. Each volume will list incipits with links to the relevant manuscripts in Bach Digital thereby enabling the user to gain quick access to the sources.- With altered readings integrated into the musical text taking into account new musicological evidence.- With a new Preface by Christoph Wolff (Ger/Eng) discussing this work and its sources.- Newly engraved and with improved page

Eight Little Preludes And Fugues BWV 553-560 formerly ascribed to Johann Sebastian Bach. Although it has not been possible to identify the composer of the 'Eight Little Preludes And Fugues' Alfred Dürr writes in his preface to this edition 'Since the value of a musical work is in no way dependent pm whether the composer is known or not the hope remains that the delightful and appealing music of the Eight will find enthusiasts in the future despite the fact that they no longer fulfil their former task namely to introduce 'typically Bachian' elements to the future organists. The Eight definitely have their own value'.

For Violin Solo.

No group of works in Johann Sebastian Bach?s output is as wide-ranging as the cantatas. This is hardly surprising considering that for over five years Bach was required to compose a work or at least re-work an existing one for every Sunday and festival of thechurch year as well as for numerous secular occasions such as council inaugurations school and university celebrations and royal birthdays.Unfortunately not all cantatas have survived. However over 200 sacred and secular works exist and form a corpus of works suitable for all possible occasions. This rich musical heritage is still as relevant today as it was then.

Arranged for Choir and Organ-Festive Choral Settings From Cantatas Arranged For Choir & Organ is ideal for church services and concerts and has easy-to-play Organ reductions. The six choral settings of this edition come from cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach offering richly sounding ensemble forces for festive occasions of the ecclesiastical year (New Year Easter Ascension Day Whitsuntide Trinity Sunday). These arrangements for Choir and Organ by the church musician and organist of the Stiftskirche Tübingen Ingo Bredenbach will allow choirs unable to call on large orchestral forces with wind instruments and strings to perform these choral settings.Concertante cantata movements giving prominence to the choir have been selected; at the same time their texts do not restrict them to the particular religious holiday they were meant for in the Church year. These arrangements follow the score of the ?New Bach Edition?. They are playable on every two-manual instrument with pedal. The arrangements available here however require no imitation of the orchestral sound but stand as independent versions.

BWV 248. Par BACH JOHANN SEBASTIAN. For this edition, Carsten Klomp has transferred the orchestral movement of the 1st cantata from Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio to the organ. It not only enables a performance with a reduced line-up, but also a tonally appealing and surprisingly coherent rendition of this wonderful music. The way the voices are distributed on the manuals and pedal and the balance between virtuosity and good playability ensure both proximity to the original score and an organ-appropriate implementation. Instead of a simple piano reduction on the organ, this version offers an independent performance option that allows the organ to be used in all of its facets and possibilities. The vocal parts (solos and choir) are identical to the edition of the original version (Carus 31.248/00), so that the piano reduction and choral score can be used. The single part for the organ was optimized for page turning, i.e. the choral parts were not printed, but the dacapo was always notated out. / Date parution : 2021-12-09/ Répertoire / Orgue

Instrument : organ Nombre de Pages : 62 This School of Organ Playing presuppose...(+)
Instrument : organ Nombre de Pages : 62 This School of Organ Playing presupposes a certain technical facility on the piano. The pedal exercises at the beginning are rudimentary and should be practiced in all keys, gradually accelerating the tempo. The studies are graded according to their polyphony, beginning with simple two part exercises, followed by those in three and more parts. This acquaintance with the strict principles of polyphonic music, and the introduction to effective part writing, with a knowledge of harmonic form and architectonic values, provide the essential background for the correct performance of polyphonic music, especialle the fugue. The most important musical forms have been used to illustrate the various possibilites of registration and its relationship to style (colourful, individualistic and smooth playing). The studies are so arranged that earlier technical points, etc. are constantly reviewed, through comparison of style and form, in order to fix, or refreshen, the ideas in the student's mind. It is very important that the evolution of organ music from vocal music should be made clear to the student the very beginning, both musically and intellectually. He will be shown the technical evolution of organ music during the centuries and thus prepared for an artistic execution and interpretation of old and new words, especially for the incomparable art of our great Johann Sebastian Bach.
