Finished in 1948 the Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra was composed by Henri Tomasi (1901-1971) and lasts approximately 15 minutes. Dedicated to the Trumpeter Ludovic Vaillant soloist at the National Orchestra the Concerto for Trumpet and Orchestra was premiered in Paris in 1949. The first part which lasts 7 minutes Allegro and Cadenza begins with a Trumpet cadenza and a quiet Snare Drum background. The Nocturne follows as the second part of this Concerto by Tomasi and the Finale the shortest part of the concerto ends up with a cheerful cartoon-music theme. This book is thepocket version. The poem refers to a clown who claims his story to the night. It is a short poem of four verses composed with rhymes in A/B/A/B formation. Henri Tomasi who won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1927 also composed a variety of concertos for Alto Saxophone for Trumpet and for Trombone as well as some ballades.

Suite is a piece for three Bb or C Trumpets composed by Henri Tomasi in 1964. This unusual suite lasts approximately 8’30 minutes. It is divided into three main parts: 1. Havanaise at a Tempo di Habanera 2. Lento égéen and 3. Danse Bolivienne. The Havanaise is made of a danse part and a more melodious one. Its dialogue in between the Trumpets creates a counterpoint. In the second part the three instruments alternate the theme with small variations and the last part “3. Danse Bolivienne” is a toccata. This book features score and parts for Bb and C Trumpets.
