Gustavo Beytelmann has taken some of the most beautiful tango music ever written and created his own arrangements for solo piano. His collection shows how varied the genre is, from the ragtime-like lilt of El esquinazo to the romantic waltz La loca de amor by Pablo José Vázquez and the energetic El entrerriano by Rosendo Menizabal, as well as a new arrangement of Carlos Gardel's immortal El dia que me quieras. Beytelmann shows too how technically varied these works can be. Arr.Collatti Diego. Par GARDEL CARLOS. The name of Carlos Gardel is synonymous with the Tango - his compositions in the genre have long been considered classics. Diego Collatti has collaborated with Universal Edition for several years now, producing arrangements for instrumental solo and duet of many of Gardel's best loved works. In this publication, he returns to the original versions and presents six of them almost as Gardel intended, as songs for tenor voice and piano. Two of the pieces, 'El día que me quieras” and 'Mi Buenos Aires querido” featured in films of those names in 1934 and 1935. The words to these tangos are by Alfredo Le Pera who worked with Gardel on those films and sadly died in the same plane crash that killed Carlos Gardel in 1935. Le Pera is credited with elevating the literary quality of tango lyrics while respecting the musical form. The texts are presented in the original Spanish./ Recueil / Tenor et Piano

These duets can be played by a pair of alto saxes or by alto and tenor. Gardel, who died tragically young in an air accident in 1935, is credited as the man who made the tango internationally popular and his music will be recognized by young and old alike. The timbre of the saxophone is particularly suited to this genre and lends itself to evoking the fascination and glamour of Gardel's tangos. Volver was originally composed by the man whose name is more closely associated than any other with the tango genre, singer/composer Carlos Gardel (1887/1890 - 1935). His birthplace and birthdate are both uncertain and are fiercely debated between France and Uruguay, but he grew up in the Abasto section of Buenos Aires and subsequently became an Argentine citizen. He introduced tangos into his repertoire in 1917, and during his career he composed some of the best-loved of them such as Soledad, Por Una Cabeza, El Dia Que Me Quieras, and, of course, Volver. As a singer he interpreted and recorded literally hundreds of tangos, and he enjoyed enormous world-wide popularity. Gardel died tragically in an airplane accident in Medellín, Colombia, in 1935, a death that plunged all of Latin America into deep mourning. The present author has attempted to modernize Volver by giving it a kind of Afro-Cuban rhythmic structure in its 6/8 time scheme, and he has provided a significant technical and musical challenge to the soloist. / Violon Et Orchestre A Cordes
