The Concertino of Carl Maria von Weber was originally composed in Spring 1811 over the course of three days for German clarinet virtuoso Heinrich Joseph Baermann. It was a particularly productive year for Weber, as he also composed the two concertos for clarinet, a bassoon concerto, and the clarinet quintet, among other pieces. Weber's two concertos and the concertino for clarinet were written for the clarinettist Heinrich Baermann. It is here written for Alto Saxophone and piano. Carl Maria von Weber1786 - 1826) was a cousin of Mozart's wife Constanze and trained as a musician from his childhood the son of a versatile musician who had founded his own travelling theatre company.
