Gerard Manley Hopkins was reputed to be a poet of semantic ambiguity and, in the opinion of Guillou, therefore comes closest to the art of musical expression. Guillou has already 'translated' 'Peace' from Hopkins' oeuvre into a work for eight voices and organ.In 'Andromeda', the sound of the organ and the human voice are supposed to amalgamate such that in effect a new organ stop emerges. At the same time, the composer wants to have the musical organ work seen as an independent poem, like the lines of Hopkins, and wishes the language of the organ to become a kind of living speech to a certain extent.

SatoshiYagisawa was inspired by the story of Perseus, which was madefamous in the 1980’s movie Clash of the Titans. The music is full ofdrama and it is easy to imagine the dark underworld as monstersbattle to survive. The members of your band can sing the choirparts, adding to the fun of this epic tale!

Satoshi Yagisawa werd voor zijn compositie ge nspireerd door de film Clash of the Titans, die is gebaseerd op de mythe van de Griekse held Perseus. Dirigent Yasuhara zei over Perseus: “De mogelijkheden voor de jongeblazers zijn eindeloos. Het is een groot genoegen om ze in aanraking te zien komen met een prachtige compositie en ze samen te zien groeien door middel van muziek.”

Perseus ist eine Auftragskomposition einer japanischen Schule mit einer großen Gesangstradition. Getreu dieser Tradition schrieb Yagisawa ein sehr gesangliches, träumerisches Thema für sein Werk über Perseus, welcher der griechischen Sage zufolge in einem Kampf gegen ein Seeungeheuer die Prinzessin Andromeda rettete. Vom Kinofilm Kampf der Titanen inspiriert, schuf Yagisawa ein dramatisches Werk mit Gesangeinlagen (von einem Chor oder Musikern zu singen), das tiefen Eindruck hinterlassen wird.

Cette composition développe un thème éthéré de texture chorale. Satoshi Yagisawa a choisi d’illustrer Persée, une constellation qui doit son nom au célèbre héros grec qui délivra la princesse Andromède, offerte en sacrifice au monstre marin Cetus (ou Kraken). Pour ce faire, Satoshi Yagisawa s’est largement inspiré du film britannique Le Choc des Titans (1981) du réalisateur Desmond Davis, avec une musique dramatique qui devrait convenir de nombreuses formations.
