This prelude to Purcell's Suite no.8 is derived from a
book of music published posthumously by his wife,
Frances, titled 'A choice Collection of Lessons for the
Harpsichord'. This book, printed in 1696, is one of
only a handful of British keyboard music books printed
in the late 17th century. The music is harmonically
relatively simple with no modulations, and is largely
composed of arpeggios and some scalar runs.
