Jose Welligton Sousa de Castro began his music studies in 2000 when he joined the Banda de Musica de Pindoretama Band of Music, playing the trombone. In 2002 and 2006, he toured Germany, performing at festivals such as the Duckstein-Festival in Kiel and Lübeck, the Pinneberg Summer Jazz Festival, the FIFA FAN FEST, the Altonale, the Kieler Woche, and the Wine Fest Pinneberg. In 2004, he began his first studies in harmony by taking a course on sheet music editing, taught by Professor Jardilino Marciel and conducted by the Secretaria de Cultura do Estado do Ceará Department of Culture of the State of Ceará in Beberibe. He went on to analyze and edit scores, correcting the harmony and completing the missing voices. In 2007 and 2008, he was a finalist for the Prêmio Alberto Nepomuceno de Composio para Banda de Musica the Prix Alberto Nepomuceno composition for wind band organized by the Secretaria de Cultura do Estado do Ceará Department of Culture of the State of Ceará. In 2007, he joined the Universidade do Estadual do Ceará University of State of Ceará UECE, in the composition course with Professor Dr. Alfredo Barros. In 2008, he assisted his teacher in arrangements for the musical production of the show REINO (The Lion King) of the dance company Vera Passos. In 2009, he taught courses in music editing with software Finale 2009 by Secult-ce and UECE, and made arrangements for the singer André Matos. In 2010, he taught courses in music editing with software Finale 2010 by the city of Sobral. He was also a finalist for the Prêmio FUNARTE de Composição Clássica Award FUNARTE classical composition in the category Symphony Orchestra and had hissong Tormenta Storm played in the XIX Bienal Brasileira de Musica Contemporânea Brazilian Biennial of Contemporary Music. He has had compositions and arrangements played by groups from Belgium, Colombia, France, USA and Italy. In 2019, he completed his Masters degree at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte, where he studied under the guidance of Professor Dr. Alexandre Reche. He is currently an arranger contracted by the Secretaria de Cutlura e Turismo of the city of Eusébio and a musician in the Banda de Música Virgílio Coelho, in the city of Aquiraz.
