TALE OF THE MAGI

There's a tale that shepherds tell,
about a star, long-ago,
back in Herod's time.

Three kings following a star,
their camels tread the desert sand,
up hills down vales of distant lands,
as caravans pass by.

Three kings following a star,
through heat of day and chill of night,
they keep in sight that star of light,
as suns and moons go by.

They travel on,
a yearning in their hearts
which draws them t'wards a guiding light,
a beacon in the sky.

Each bears a gift,
gold, frankincense and myrrh,
they bring these for a newborn baby,
born in Bethlehem.

Melchior, Gaspar and Balthazar,
reach the place where Jesus lays,
as angels sing sweet lullabies
to sooth the Son of Mary.

Three kings, rejoice in grateful praise,
for unto us a child is born,
and unto us a son is given.
and He shall be called:

Wonderful,
Counsellor,
the Lord of Lords,
the Prince of Peace,
the King of Kings,

Teacher,
Carpenter,
Shepherd,
the son of man,

Prophet,
Redeemer,
the Christ
the Son of God.
