Inspired by a local performance of the Kontra-Kor, a
duo comprised of Dr. Cindy Behmer, oboe, English horn
(http://www.cindybehmer.com/), and Jessica Campbell,
bassoon and contra-bassoon
546?task=view), I developed this arrangement of the
Sonate 1 by G.F. Händel.
Among some of the favorite, but rarely heard
instruments of the modern orchestra to play alone,
these instruments have not been previously paired in
duos. Behmer and Campbell have commissioned work
written especially for them, and this is an attempt to
increase their repitoire with additional pieces rich in
tactile harmony, providing tempo variations and timbre
I reconstructed the Sonate in unconventional form in 4
short movements (Adagio, Allegro, Larghetto & Vivace).
