This is a piano solo based on the original melody I wrote for Tolkien's poem "Over the Misty Mountains Cold". Parts of it are in a folk style, while nearer the end of the piece it shows definite signs of being 20th century (no, it is NOT atonal!). While it's been written as a piano solo, it also sounds good with vocals accompanying, so I have left the words in.

This is more difficult than my other postings; probably grade 9 - 10. My performance is a little hesitant, but I hope it will provide some guidance in terms of interpretation, as the music is a little sparsely notated at the moment. I hope to replace this with a more secure performance soon (one of the things I found when writing music - I still have to learn the piece afterwards!).

Ah, yes.....the sound gets a little muffled at the very end. That's because my cat came and sat on the microphone!
