This excellent arrangement by Robert van Beringen is of the well-known German chorale Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, taken from the oratorio Paulus (St. Paul) by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (1809-1847). Although accredited to Mendelssohn it is thought the melody was in fact written by the pastor and poet Philipp Nicolai in 1599. Robert van Beringenâ??s arrangement perfectly captures the biblical story of St. Paul.

Robert van Beringen bewerkte het bekende koraal Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme uit Paulus, het eerste oratorium van Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy. Wenn erforderlich, konnen die einzelnen Lieder durch Weglassung der Tenor-Blockflote auch dreistimmig aufgefuhrt werden. Es besteht weiterhin die Moglichkeit, den drei- oder vierstimmigen Blasersatz durch Streicher zu verstarken oder Stimmen zu ersetzen. Die Stimme der Sopran-Blockflote entspricht der Melodie. Durch die abgedruckten Texte konnen die Stucke so auch mit Gesang aufgefuhrt werden. Akkordbezeichnungen ermoglichen daruber hinaus auch weitere Begleitungen, z.B. mit Gitarre.
