Telemann� �s passion oratorio “Der Tod Jesu” was composed in 1754-55, roughly at the same time as the same-named highly regarded work by Carl Heinrich Graun. Both pieces are settings of the same libretto by Karl Wilhelm Ramler. In this late work, Telemann consciously contrasts the carefully crafted recitatives with musically reduced solemn choruses to obtain an emotional reading of the Passion text.

This vocal score complements the Urtext score of this moving passion oratorio which is published as part of the “Georg Philipp Telemann Musical Works”. The complete orchestral material is available on hire.

Composed around 1760,Die Auferstehung und Himmelfahrt Jesuis one of Telemann's last large-scale vocal works. The libretto, by Karl Wilhelm Ramler, recounts the Biblical events from the Resurrection to the Ascension in seven sections.

Alternat ing between recitative, da capo arias and festive choruses, Telemann succeeds in producing a vivid and effective musical interpretation of the libretto.
