Item Number: MO.MMOCD6854 I realized that this second volume of Signature Series of songs associated with great singers is really an expansion of some of the concepts presented in my earlier MMOs and specifically the Seven Step Natural or Ear-Based Approach to Acquiring Jazz Styling and Improvisational Skills. Wow, that's a mouthful! As my father used to say when he wanted to repeat an important basic idea while teaching me, I'm going to strum that old banjo string and say it again: Learn the actual melody and lyrics and hear it, then sing it before you play it. Armed with these couple of ideas along with emulating the phrasing and story-telling abilities of the great singers, you can't help but improve. To this day, I still use these simple guidelines. And what better way to do this than to explore these eight truly masterfully, composed songs that are stellar examples of the Great American Song Book! --Bob Zottola.
