From an earlier Belwin Mills edition this is Volume 2 of a series of the piano works of the great Russian-American composer. These compositions were written as 'picture pieces' though Rachmaninoff did not reveal what each piece was to suggest preferring to leave that discovery to the pianist. This book contains the complete Opus 33 and Opus 39 works

Sonatas Op. 28 Op. 36-From an earlier Belwin Mills edition this is Volume 5 of a series of the piano works of the great Russian-American composer. Included are Rachmaninoff's Opus 28 and Opus 36 Sonatas. The Opus 28 in D-minor in three movements was completed in 1907 and was introduced in Dresden Germany. The Opus 36 in B-flat minor also in three movements was written and 1913 but was later revised by the composer.

The first two piano concertos frame a prolonged period of self-examination and doubt in Rachmaninov’s life his earlier works were not received with great acclaim. However his resurgence as a composer on the international concert platform was brought about by his composition of thePiano Concerto No.2 in C Minor Op.18 which since its first performance remains one of the most important and popular works in the repertoire. This full orchestral score is a wonderful resource for study and perusal purposes and is clearly presented making it easy to read and follow.Note that the revised version (written in 1917) of the first piano concerto is that which is presented in this score.
