The Sigmund Hering 32 Etudes for Trombone (Carl Fischer O4883) have long been a staple in the study repertoire for the developing trombonist. Now, it has finally been adapted for Bass Trombonists by transposing it lower to new, comfortable registers. These excellent progressive studies by Hering, presented in appropriate lower keys, fill an observed gap in the intermediate study repertory for the emerging bass trombonist. Additionally, these studies may well aid the tenor trombonist in development and facility as they approach the lower range of that instrument.
The Sigmund Hering 32 Etudes for Trombone (Carl Fischer O4883) have long been a staple in the study repertoire for the developing trombonist. Similar in design to the Blume 36 Studies for Trombone (Carl Fischer O4948) and the Blume/Fink 36 Studies for Trombone with F Attachment (Carl Fischer O4259), these excellent progressive studies by Hering, when presented in appropriate lower keys, fill an observed gap in the intermediate study repertory for the emerging bass trombonist. Additionally, these studies may well aid the tenor trombonist in development and facility as they approach the lower range of that instrument. In this bass trombone version, all musical elementsdynamics, articulations, tempi, etc.have been retained from the original tenor trombone edition. Due to the wide variety of valve configurations and tunings available to the modern bass trombonist, suggested valve combinations and positions have been omitted purposely to provide a vehicle for experimentation and the development of decision-making skills for their use.
