Consisting of five settings of poems written by Friedrich Rückert, this orchestrated song cycle is considered to be one of Gustav Mahler's masterpieces.  Written in his characteristic late-romantic musical language, Mahler explores feelings evoked by the loss of a child.  This masterwork has been reorchestrated by French composer Serge Ollive to be accessible for chamber orchestras.
