Composed by David Neff and Traditional. Contemporary,Folk,Sacred,Spiritual,Traditional. Score. 4 pages. David Neff #3549277. Published by David Neff (A0.829018).

"All My Trials, Lord" was originally a Bahamian spiritual in the form of a lullaby. It is sung from the perspective of a mother who comforts her child, even as she knows she is approaching death. This organ meditation is appropriate for Lent, Advent, and funeral services. The song's imagery includes the crossing of the river Jordan and other symbols of deliverance from oppression. During the Civil Rights struggle of the 1950s and 1960s, the song became a standard part of the folk repertoire, and was sung by artists such as Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, and Peter, Paul, and Mary. Paul McCartney recorded a live version in 1989. .
