Von der Fragment gebliebenen Freimaurer-Kantate KV 429 sind nur der Eingangs-Chor und die anschliessende Tenor-Arie mit der von Mozart angedeuteten Instrumentierung erhalten. Mozarts Skizzen sind nicht erhalten, jedoch eine Abschrift seines Sohnes (Sopran, Männerchor und Klavier) sowie eine weitere Abschrift im Salzburger Mozarteum (Sopran, gemischter Chor, Streicher, zwei Oboen und zwei Hörner). Beide Fassungen gehen vermutlich auf Abbé Stadler zurück. In der vorliegenden Ausgabe wurde die Fassung des Werkes im Ganzen beibehalten. Sie ist nur insofern verändert, als zum einen im Chorteil die beiden Hörner-Stimmen (Füllstimmen) und zum anderen in der Arie die Querflöten- und Fagott-Stimme (die fast wörtlich den Streicherstimmen folgen) weggelassen wurden. Durch eine Wiederholung des Chorteils nach der Arie ist die Formung der beiden Fragmente zu einem Ganzen möglich.
