Transfigured Night is ultra-romantic, lush and tonal, in the tradition of Wagner, Brahms and Mahler. Still, the music of this time was on slippery harmonic ground, with intense chromaticism and expressive but functional dissonance. This abridged arrangement uses the extraordinary expressive capability of brass and organ to capture the emotional intensity of Schoenberg's early masterpiece. Don't let strings have all the fun! This arrangement for brass quintet, organ and (optional) timpani is scored for 2 trumpets (parts included for both B-flat and C), horn, trombone, tuba, organ and timpani.
