Originally performed in Rodgers and Hammerstein's 1959 musical: The Sound of Music. In the musical, Captain von Trapp and his family sing this together towards the end of Act 2, it is their subliminal goodbye to their homeland Austria. This arrangement for Clarinet Quartet is perfect for school or community ensembles looking for a short beginner level arrangement. Clarinet 1 leads the piece throughout playing the vocal line with Clarinet 2 playing a countermelody, together Clarinet 3 and the Bass Clarinet add harmony and movement to the arrangement.
