The chirpy and vivacious aria soon gives way to a stirring march-like military song, a prelude to his military life.
This aria works particular well on the wind quintet. Though limited to five players, the Wind Quintet should think of themselves as a Wind Ensemble to achieve a fuller sound. The french horn is put to good use to strengthen this effect.
