Originally a vocal solo with instrumental obbligato, the final note in each phrase is extended as if to allow for reflection on the text which is retained in the instrumental score. Moderately difficult, it is suitable for church service prelude or offertory, also for weddings and recitals. The tempo can be adapted to the context eg. if performed during Communion a slower tempo might be appropriate.
