"Go, Crystal Teares: Medieval & Renaissance Melodies for flute and harp" is a set of arrangements of Medieval and Renaissance melodies that adapts the open fifth harmonies and use of countermelodies into more familiar broken chord textures for the harp. While it is not a historical reproduction of the original polyphonic settings, it uses more homophonic textures, with the inclusion of some imitation and countermelodies in the harp, and at times simpler, slower harmonic rhythms. Some countermelodies are taken from the original sources, at times simplified rhythmically to accommodate an early intermediate level of playing. This set of pieces is ideal for flute (or any other melodic C instrument) and harp to play at Renaissance Festivals and Faires. The pieces are at a comfortable intermediate level to accommodate players. Each tune is chosen for its unique melodic beauty and expressive harmonies. I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as our Bellissima duo has.
