Composed by Ravel, Maurice. Arranged by Cherry, Gordon. 20th Century. Score and parts. 8 pages. Gordon Cherry #3044611. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.810788).

Ravel composed this work for voice with piano accompaniment in 1914 just before he enlisted for service in World War I. It was commissioned by Alvina Alvi a soprano with the St. Petersburg Opera, who performed it for the first time the same year with Ravel at the piano. The composer later orchestrated the music in 1919.

This very expressive music is based on the mourner's prayer from the Jewish daily service, is about 5-minutes in length, modest in range (high G), in bass clef and appropriate for advanced performers.

This product was created by a member of ArrangeMe, Hal Leonard’s global self-publishing community of independent composers, arrangers, and songwriters. ArrangeMe allows for the publication of unique arrangements of both popular titles and original compositions from a wide variety of voices and backgrounds.
