Composed by Jeffrey Reid Baker. Christmas,Romantic Period. Score. 10 pages. JRB Music Publishing #433381. Published by JRB Music Publishing (A0.803109).

From the liner notes for "A Composer's Christmas" CD -- The opening notes of Schubert‘s impromptu brought a welcome calm to the proceedings. Following a simple and straightforward statement of the theme are three variations and a coda. The first variation is based on a perky dotted rhythmic figure. The second variation is slow, dramatic, and filled with Schubert-ian angst. The third features a galloping triplet feel, while the fourth is pure bravura. The piece ends with a curtailed but sensitive restatement of the theme. 2016 Holiday Contest Entry
