Published by Karelm Music (A0.844111)."Orbit: A Symphonic Fantasy" is a symphonic poem about space travel and is concerned with dreamers and visionaries who look towards the future. The overall feeling I attempted to capture with this piece is one of vigorous heroism, evocative lyricism, and spirited adventure. The work is suggestive of this quote from Mark Twain: "Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." Inspired by the final flight of NASA's Space Shuttle program that ended on July 21, 2011, I wanted to create a tribute of sorts to the spirit of adventure, heroism, and exploration from those who have a dream to explore and the courage to meet the future without fear. Duration: 13 minutes (also available for concert band).
