"Das Lied der Deutschen", also called "Deutschlandlied", ("Song of Germany") is adapted for the Sheffield High School Orchestra for its concert. This piece consists of 3 verses, each in a different key to fit different instruments. This piece began with a patriotic-style march introduction, followed by a soft and quiet 1st verse (in G major) played mainly by the strings and woodwind sections. After that, the main melody of 2nd verse (in Eb major) is played mainly by the trumpet, accompanied by clarinets and other brass instruments. Then, the 3rd verse (in C major) begins with woodwinds playing the main tune softly, with string pizzicato and glockenspiel supporting the melodies, and ends with a triumphant march - The most favourited style to end an anthem to emphasise pride of own nation.
