I am smitten with this stand. It's made of a hard plastic and comes in five separate pieces: the two ends and the three pieces that interlock the ends together. Assembly took me maybe five minutes and was relatively simple and straight forward. The pieces attach by clicking into place, and you actually have to use a decent bit of force to get them to connect securely. I was worried the pieces might snap as hard as I was having to use quite a bit of force to get them to connect. Granted, I don't really have too much in the way of upper body strength, but it was slightly difficult in that regard. However, my worries were unfounded as I am patently not strong enough to snap that plastic! If you buy this, don't worry about using as much force as you need to.Once assembled, I couldn't wait to put my concert ukulele ( Kala KA-EBY-C Ebony Concert Ukulele Natural ) on the stand to see how she faired. It supports the weight of almost two pounds with ease. Also, and it may just be the lighting in my house, but the finish looks much more natural and less plasticky in reality than it does in the photos shown for this listing.Overall, it's a great value, and I would buy it again if I ever get a sister uke! I'll add more pictures that show the stand at a better angle as soon as I can :)
