Perfect low gain overdrive for my needs

I wanted a low gain overdrive pedal that I could use to boost my golden plexi distortion pedal. Its perfect for that. Even just used on its own it gives a great clean boost to some of my quietest guitar pickups.

Nicht wirklich Sweet und Low Gain aber interessant

Mein drittes Tone City Mini Pedal. Nach den Delay und Kompressor jetzt auch noch ein Overdrive. Ich beschäftige mich schon länger mit "transparent Overdrives" und mich hat die Beschreibung "touch sensitive" neugierig gemacht.
Wie alle Tone City Pedale kam auch der Tone City Sweet Cream Low-Gain Overdrive in einer schlichten Pappschachtel, ein Klettband-Klebepad liegt bei und ermöglicht die schnelle Montage auf dem Effektpedal.
Die Farbe ist gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber damit kann man leben.
Ich habe den Tone City Sweet Cream Low-Gain Overdrive erst einmal mit Humbuckern (Les Paul Standard 50s) und Single Coils (Telecaster mit Tex Mex Pickups) ausprobiert und dann auch gleich bei einer Bandprobeallerdings ausschließlich mit der Les Paul eingesetzt. Verstärker war ein Fender Princeton Tonemaster, der ab Volume 6 selbst mit der Les Paul anfängt zu verzerren.
Was war meine Erwartung an das Sweet Cream Pedal? Die leitete sich teilweise auch aus den YouTube Videos ab, die es dazu gibt. Ganz nachvollziehen konnte ich die dort gezeigten Ergebnisse nicht. Der Tone City Sweet Cream Low-Gain Overdrive hat ein fettes Ausgangssignal, so dass ich mit dem Volume Regler recht weit zurück musste um den Lautstärkeunterschied zum Clean Sound nicht zu arg werden zu lassen. Mit dem Touch Regler habe ich natürlich experimentiert. Optimal war für mich eine Einstellung bei circa 14 Uhr, da unter 12 Uhr der Sound mit der Les Paul irgendwie leblos wird.
Man kann den Grad der Verzerrung mit dem Volume Regler der Gitarre und dem Saitenanschlag beeinflussen - aber meiner Erfahrung nach nicht in einem so breiten Umfang wie erwartet. Das geht letztlich mit einem mxr Timmy, Wampler Belle oder selbst dem Ibanez Tubescreamer mini oder selbst mit dem puren Fender Tonemaster auch, obwohl es kein "echter" Röhrenamp ist.
Der Sound ist mittenbetonter, harscher als ich erwartet habe. Geht in Richtung Tube Screamer. Mit der Les Paul gut für AC/DC und ähnliche Sachen geeignet.
Mein Fazit: Das Pedal bleibt im Haus. Es kostet nicht die Welt und vielleicht muss man sich noch länger damit beschäftigen. So richtig gut hat es bis jetzt meine Erwartungen aber nicht erfüllt.
Nachtrag: Habe jetzt einen direkten Vergleich zum Tone City Blues Man, dagegen ist das Sweet Cream Pedal wesentlich brauchbarer im Zusammenhang mit Humbucker Gitarren. Na einigen Versuchen gefällt mir Sweet Cream immer besser für einige Einsatzzwecke und ich freunde mich damit an.

On se demande bien à quoi servent les potards de cette pédale ! Touch est sensé injecter du signal clair au signal traité . Que néni ! Le gain ... Que c'est compliqué ... Les intéractions entre ces différentes fonctions sont peu compréhensibles voir inutiles . Seul le prix vous attire comme le miel attire certains insectes . Ceci dit ; le son est dans la moyenne des pédales de ce prix ... Ni plus ni moins . Après 1 mois de recherche de possibilités de cette pédale ; je tiens à apporter une utilisation qui peut être très intéressante : en amont ou en aval d'une disto cela est tout bon ou tout mauvais suivant le type de disto ! Avec la alexander jubilee c'est mauvais ( trop de suraigues non corrigeables ) et avec AMT Bdrive mini c'est excellent ! D'ailleurs au passage; ces pédales AMT sont d'une qualité excellente .... Les ingénieurs russes sont aussi bons que les américains . Tant mieux pour notre porte monnaie .
