Frauenchor. Par HAYDN FRANZ JOSEF. Haydn presumably wrote his 'Missa brevis” in 1775 for the Brothers Hospitallers of Eisenstadt Abbey. The work takes its nickname, the 'Little Organ Mass', from the organ solo in the 'Benedictus”. This arrangement for female choir (SMezAA) is based on the complete edition of the 'Works of Joseph Haydn”. The original soprano and alto parts have, for the most part, been taken over, as has the soprano solo in the 'Benedictus”. The tenor and bass parts are distributed among the mezzo-sopranos and altos, with a few well thought-out alterations to preserve the harmonic structure. Heribert Breuer has retained the original substance with great skill while giving the work a wholly new and attractive sound. Heribert Breuer was professor of choral conducting and music theory at Berlin University of the Arts until 2010. Symphony in Bb major Hob. I:102-The twelve London Symphonies??? comprise the sublime final statement of Haydn???s symphonic ??uvre. They were written for the London impresario Johann Peter Salomon and Haydn himself conducted their premieres during his lengthy stays in the English metropolis in 1791/92 and 1794/95. The energetic surging B-flat-major Symphony no. 102 belongs to the group of the last three symphonies premiered in early 1795. Exceptionally Haydn here dispenses with the clarinets that are otherwise generally featured in his late symphonies. The instrumentation of the Adagio is also unusual in that Haydn includes trumpets and timpani both muted. This study edition adopts the musical text of theHaydn Complete Edition thereby guaranteeing the highest scholarly quality. An informative preface and a brief Critical Report make the handy score an ideal companion for all current and soon-to-be Haydn fans.

Chiemsee-Messe. Par HAYDN JOHANN MICHAEL. Among Haydn’s over thirty settings of the Latin Ordinary, the Missa in honorem Sanctae Ursula occupies an outstanding position, which, according to the autograph, was completed on 5 August 1793. This Mass has been referred to as the most “Mozartian” of all his masses. With its song-like melodic character, the unity of the motivic material and the harmonius balance between festive and reflective sections this Mass is one of Haydn’s most successful and inspired works. This work, which in addition to the usual Salzburg “church trio” includes two trumpets and timpani, belongs to the category of “Missa solemnis. ” The popular nickname Chiemsee-Messe is bound up with the history ofthe origins of the work. Haydn wrote the Mass for the musically gifted nun, Sebastiana Oswald, who belonged to the Benedictine cloister of Frauenchiemsee.
