JS Bach's Choral prelude for Organ, Wachet Auf, has become a favourite of wedding couples for processional or recessional music because of its joyous liveliness and beauty. The cantata Wachet Auf BWV 140 contains a Biblical warning to be alert for the arrival of salvation, but Bach seems to have chosen to wake his sleepers with delightful sounds.The arranger, Charles Macpherson, was an Organist at St Paul's Cathedral in London and a professor of composition at the Royal Academy of Music. He has made his interpolations clear by the use of brackets.

Carmelo Barranco's transcription of 'Bach Dances for the Trumpet and Piccolo Trumpet' includes excerpts of Bach's Minuettos, Gavottes, Polonaise, Bourees, Sarabands, Hymns, and Marches. This is a rare and intriguing book because it is laid out in such a way as to allow for performance of these works on both the Bb/C trumpet as well as the piccolo trumpet. Younger players can enjoy the challenge of performing these pieces in a comfortable range, while advanced players can work up to the top of the staff on the A piccolo, very suitable to the time period and intention of the music.

These duets are wonderful in every way! Mr Barranco has chosen excellent musical selections which are so playable and attractive for the horn. He has adhered to the original musical notation as much as possible while ensuring beautiful, fluid, interesting and eminently playable lines for both players. The range is excellent - neither too high nor too low - and the lines are close enough to each other to make a very pleasant and satisfying playing and listening experience. The phrasing and articulations work so well for horn players but are also pleasing to the listener who may know the original work.
