Orchestra Coro SATB, 2 Fl, 2 Ob, 2 Clt, 2 Fg, 2 Cor, 3 Trb, Timp, Arpa ad lib., 2 Vl, Va, Vc, Cb - Level 4 SKU: CA.1039812 Composed by Johannes Brahms. Edited by Rainer Boss. Single Part, violin 2. Composed 1880/81. Op. 82. Duration 14 minutes. Carus Verlag #1039800. Published by Carus Verlag (CA.1039812). ISBN 9790007292966. Key: D major. German/English. Text: J.P. Morgan; Friedrich Schiller. Brahms' elegy Nanie op. 82, based on the poem by Friedrich von Schiller, was composed in 1880/81 following the death of the painter Anselm Feuerbach, whom Brahms greatly admired. In contrast with the poem, Brahms' Nanie ends full of hope: after earthly decline, beauty can live on in art. As in his Deutsches Requiem op. 45, in Nanie Brahms creates a musical connection between mourning and consolation in an incomparable way. Inspired by the model of classical Roman-Greek laments, the work adopts the classical verse form chosen by Schiller - surely alluding to Feuerbach's classically-inspired art. Scored for mixed chorus and orchestra, we are publishing the work in a modern Urtext edition. One or more harps can be used ad lib. The primary source is the first printed edition of 1881. The latest scholarly discoveries as well as practical requirements have been taken into consideration. Performance material is available on sale as well as a vocal score, based on Brahms's original vocal score, but in a revised performing version.

Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy lived in the heyday of men's choruses. Early on, the composer had encountered the genre by way of his teacher Carl Friedrich Zelter and his Berlin Liedertafel, founded in 1809, had then gathered his own experience from the Leipzig Liedertafel societies, and was in contact with a number of male choral societies throughout his lifetime. Nevertheless, his relation to male choral singing was characterised not only by his inclination, but also by critical distance. The festive compositions for male chorus and orchestra forming the content of this volume are all commissioned works, two of which, the so-called Gutenberg-Kantate and the Festgesang an die Kunstler on a text by Friedrich Schiller, also appeared in print during Mendelssohn's lifetime. $476.95 - See more - Buy onlinePre-shipment lead time: 3 to 4 weeks | | |

| The European Anthem
(BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN) Orchestra [Score] Schott
Music from the last movement of the Ninth Symphony. Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. Th...(+)
Music from the last movement of the Ninth Symphony. Par BEETHOVEN LUDWIG VAN. The European Hymn is the hymn not only of the European Union but of Europe in a broader sense. The melody has been taken from the Ninth Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven from 1823.
In the last movement of this symphony Beethoven set music to the 'Ode to Joy' by Friedrich von Schiller from 1785. This poem sprang from Schiller's idealistic vision of men who become brothers – a vision Beethoven shared with him.
In 1972 the Council of Europe adopted Beethoven's 'Ode to Joy' as its anthem. The well-known conductor Herbert von Karajan was commissioned to arrange three instrumental versions – for solo piano, wind orchestra and symphony orchestra. Without words, in the universal language of music, the anthem is an expression of the idealistic values of freedom, peace and solidarity which Europe stands for.
In 1985 the heads of state and government adopted the hymn as the EU's official anthem. It does not replace the national anthems of the member states, but rather celebrates common values as well as unity in diversity.
The score of this offical anthem is exclusively available from the Schott publishing house./ Répertoire / Orchestre

Par BRAHMS JOHANNES. Brahms? elegy Nänie op. 82, based on the poem by Friedrich von Schiller, was composed in 1880/81 following the death of the painter Anselm Feuerbach, whom Brahms greatly admired. In contrast with the poem, Brahms? Nänie ends full of hope: after earthly decline, beauty can live on in art. As in his Deutsches Requiem op. 45, in Nänie Brahms creates a musical connection between mourning and consolation in an incomparable way. Inspired by the model of classical Roman-Greek laments, the work adopts the classical verse form chosen by Schiller ? surely alluding to Feuerbach?s classically-inspired art.Scored for mixed chorus and orchestra, we are publishing the work in a modern Urtext edition. One or more harps can be used ad lib. The primary source is the first printed edition of 1881. The latest scholarly discoveries as well as practical requirements have been taken into consideration. Performance material is available on sale as well as a vocal score, based on Brahms?s original vocal score, but in a revised performing version. / Date parution : 2023-06-02/ Répertoire / Choeur Mixte SATB et Piano

Tiefe Stimme / Low Voice-Continuing the new Urtext edition of Schubert?s Lieder editor Walther Dürr now presents Volume 6 for Low Voice. While volumes 1 to 4 of this series contain mostly Lieder that Schubert had published during his lifetime volume 5ff. contain the remaining songs which are presented basically chronologically in the order of their Deutsch catalogue number. The Lieder in this sixth volume were composed during the period between autumn 1814 and spring 1815.
