Par HOWELLS HERBERT. Herbert Howells composed his Magnificat And Nunc Dimittis evening canticles for St Paul's Cathedral in 1951, going on to become among his most famous and enduring works. These beautiful canticles were composed by a master of setting the Anglican liturgy, and are arranged for SATB Chorus and Organ Accompaniment. These two wonderful works of choral music are characterised by a unique blend of unison harmonies and disparate melodies that highlight each voice perfectly. A Hero'S Quest In The Heavens. Par YAGISAWA SATOSHI. Cette composition développe un thème éthéré de texture chorale. Satoshi Yagisawa a choisi d'illustrer Persée, une constellation qui doit son nom au célèbre héros grec qui délivra la princesse Andromède, offerte en sacrifice au monstre marin Cetus (ou Kraken). Par FIBICH ZDENEK. The Czech composer Zdenek Fibich (1850–1900) had a keen interest in classical German literature. It therefore comes as no surprise that he had already set songs to texts by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe while still a student at the Leipzig Conservatory. Between 1865 and 1871 he composed 16 songs on texts by this famous German author for voice and piano. Ten of them have survived: the song “An den Mond”, dating from 1869, and nine further songs from Goethe’s novel “Wilhelm Meisters Lehrjahre” were composed immediately after Fibich’s return to Prague in 1871.
